Have a brother mfc7440n and it keeps displaying "drum ending soon". have replaced the drum, but keep getting same display

You need to reset the drum counter.I'm not sure that working with your model but try it.
Try opening the front door cover and keep open. Then pressing clear, it should say replace drum, press 1 for yes, it should then say accepted, close cover and turn off.

Drum end soon again


My MFC-7420 began to display the message "Drum end soon" so I quickly went out and purchased a new drum. But I decided not to install it until I needed to. Because what does "drum end soon" mean? I thought it would mean that the print quality would deteriorate enough that I would notice the problem. So I continued to replace toner as needed, and pushed the blue cleaning thing down the wire regularly. This went on for over 3 years until *finally* I started having regular print job production problems. I replaced the drum, and the problems were solved. So,my advice is be prepared, but don't replace the drum until you have to -- the message means very little.

Continue to get a message to change drum soon. Changed drum already. Print quality is still not good.

This message would continue to appear if the drum counter was not reset when you replaced the drum. To reset the drum counter, follow the instructions listed below.

  1. Open the front cover.
  2. Press the Options key on the control panel.
    The display will show "REPLACE DRUM - 1.YES 2.NO".
  3. Press 1 to reset the drum count.
  4. Close the front cover.

How do i reset the drum counter on a brothere hl7050 lazer printer keep gettinjg the mnessage change drum soon even after i have changed the drum Thx DAz


Here's the solution:

  1. Turn on the printer. Wait for the data light to turn off.
  2. Hold down the "Go" and "+" buttons until the LCD panel displays "RESET COMPONENT LIFE."
  3. Use the "+" and "-" keys to select the drum unit and reset it.

Its just a drum warning that the drum is at its end of life and needs to be replaced!You can buy one and replace it yourself!Will be cheaper that way!

Drum used up will quite working when drum counter gets to around 10 thousand copies . Replace drum.

DCP 1000 Brother Copier Replaced the drum and can't seem to get the display to reset the counter. It keeps indicating that it needs drum replaced soon. Followed instructions on the new cartridge. Still...


With open front door take out the drum unit with the toner and put inside again, still open door press clear, the message replace drum? yes/not and is done!

How do I reset the Change Drum Soon on the display?


All you should have to do is: -replace the old drum with the new replacement. -with the front door open press the Clear/Back button -press the number 1 button and when ?accepted? appears on the LCD close the front cover.
