Question about HP Officejet 4315 All-in-One Printer

4315 shows "paper jam" without any paper or remnant in the path. flashing orange light. Operating system: WinXP. Have dusted rollers, having found almost no dust inside, after removing back panel. Powering off does not work. Installed printer to XP yesterday, using driver from HP web site. [Did not install full HP software pkg, hoping to avoid this kind of fake jam problem.]

This error can occur for several reasons. Some factors that might contribute to the problem:

  • The paper in the input tray is not correctly aligned
  • Using torn or wrinkled paper
  • Using paper that has previously been printed on
  • The rear access door is not fully seated or locked into place
  • The paper feed rollers have accumulated dust or paper particles
  • An envelope is being printed and the flap is not tucked down
A paper jam might occur, for example, if photo paper is specified in the Printer Properties window, but plain paper is loaded in the product
This message can also result from a poorly fitted faceplate and back panel so check them both.
Also make sure that the carriage is free and the head assemly cvan move back and forward.
It is also a good idea to install all of the HP application including the scana nd fax apps and then retstart the PC and the printer as this can clear may errors such as false paper jams and false carriage stuck errors.

I have a lexmark e238. Keeps showing paper jam light after cleaning rollers even though no paper is in there.

Either paper is moving too slow through the paper path or one of your paper path sensors is not registering. Pull the paper tray out and check to make sure the little plastic sensor is swinging free. That sensor tells when the tray is empty. Follow the paper path thru the printer checking all the sensors to make sure they are "opening" and "closing".

Did you remember to open the door for the paper to exit? Otherwise, if there's no paper jam check the paper path for debris; the sensor(s) might be gunked up.

I cleaned paper jam, however the printer still shows paper jam and will not print. (Printer HP Officejet 4315 All-in-one), I cleaned the printer, ink cartridges removed and replaced, reset the default...

If you are sure that there is no piece of paper somewhere in the printer paper path, then please look for any tiny pawl (paper sensor) and try to shake it because maybe when you remove the paper, this sensor is staked in position.
Other options are damaged paper sensor or controller board.

I show a paper jam with no paper jam existing. I opened all the doors where paper flows thru, rolled the rollers and still same message.

Look inside the system and you should see a guide that the paper goes through. It might have a flag (small piece of plastic) that is stuck or has a scrap of paper wedged preventing it from moving. It is also a good idea to blow canned air along the paper path - paper dust can cause sensors to give false jams messages. After the canned air, unplug the system from the wall for a few minutes, make sure all the paper drawers are full and closed, then restart the system.

reset by unplugging and then plugging back in, also make sure no paper is stuck in the rollers on top or the back....make sure all rollers are free of dust and if they have dust wipe off.....make sure you using the right type of paper and the printer itself isn't dirty....hope this helps

Hi vgde2004: Here are some things to check.

1. The printer is in manual feed mode.
Possible solution: Change the manual feed setting in "printer properties"
2. The door is open,the media is out,the toner cartridge is installed incorrectly,or the paper is jammed. Check paper path.
3.Fan error
1. Check fan cables for looseness.
2. Replace fan assembly

Paper not feeding

The Dell 3000cn & 3010CN both display this fault.

The root cause of the problem is the Rubber pads of the feed roller in the paper tray become warn and fail to grip the paper the paper feeds a few millimetres and then is let go by the worn roller, the paper path sensors pick this up and then a paper jam is notified.

The only remedy for this problem is to obtain a new feed roller for the paper tray mechanism. Unfortunately dell in the UK do not sell maintenance kits to the public, and therefor ehte only place I found them wa on Ebay in the USA.

The kit in quetsion is the vertical paper feed maintenance kit. it costs around $50 plus shipping.

The only other option is to have a Dell approved service agent replace the rollers for you.

If you hear a grinding or cruching noise when paper is fed, then one of the mini plastic guide rollers had detached itself from its position and wound up in the tape path mechanism (very expensive repair)

Check if you have any matter that is blocking the paper path, also try to clean the rollers that picks up paper. If you happened that copier is in a dusty enviroment, dust could deposit on rollers, and rollers when picking up paper will start slipping. Try to clean with alcohol.

paper jam or missfeed always due tothe following:-
1-malefunction of paper feeding system due to broken gears belt chain please check smoth mechnical movement and apply light grease in gears and change any broken part.
2-something is blocking the paper path (staplers-pins)droped inside.
3-malefunction of paper detection micoswitch please confirm free operation for the lever in mechnical one and clean of dust and dirt from optical one,
