Question about OKI MICROLINE 320 Turbo Matrix Printer

2 Answers

I am trying to print a label that prints correctly on a ML420, but does not print on the ML320. I am getting line feeds and is printing on 3 of the 3x5 labels instead of 1. On the 420 the labels print correct - it is set with 3x5 in the paper option. I can't seem to do that on the 320. printing out of an Oracle Application to a networked ML320. Here are the printer settings - Line Spacing - 6 LPI, Skip Over Perf - No, Page Length 11", Auto LF - No, Auto CR - No, SI Select Pitch (10CPI) 17.1 CPI, SI Select Pitch (12CPI) - 12 CPI, Esc SI Pitch 17.1 CPI. Also I noticed that the paper size on the printer properties is set to letter and there is no 3x2 paper size. Could that be the problem?

Is it possible to overcome this by setting up the page size in the Printer preferences?

I looked at the manuals and do not see a way to change the page width and length for rear feed, tractor labels. Am I missing something?

Yes exactly the main problem is the paper size setting.but as you say the size you require is not mentioned as an option.the only thing you can do is download the most latest drivers and install them .then check if the updated version has the necessary options.normally it will have and will solve the issue.

thanks, keep updated and please rate the solution positively.

The ML320 and ML420 are essentially different product families. You can set the continuous paper and cut sheet page to 3" page length rather than 11" if you wish.

You can view the OKI ML320 manual online at the following OKI support Link

and the OKI 320 Programming Guide at the following OKI Support link

Refer to Chapter 5 - Control Panel Menu Mode in the Users Guide to Setup from the Menu available from the priinter control panel.

Refer to Chapter 8 - Vertical Controls in the Programming Guide to discover the commands to embed in software.

You can set the page length and the page skip (distance between pages that is not printable).

Set the page length to 3" and set the left and right margin positions accoroding to Chapter 7 - Horizontal Controls in the Programming Guide.

Al the settings that you have given are available. As you are using Oracle you should setup the page length and width margins as optional parameters in Oracle - I resume you are using FORMS to produce the labels - so this is possible in the Forms setup and can be different for every FORM that you wish to use.

When I print a label I have to press the feed button to get the label out. How do I get it to push out the entire label without me having to feed and reset the whole time?

Most people I know print addresses from a sheet of labels, which ejects at the end. It sounds like you are printing one address from a continuous roll of labels, and they are so close together that the printer cannot push it out for you without misaligning the next one. I think both systems are designed mainly to print a batch of labels at one time.
If you are printing a batch, it is best to prepare the whole set first and save it as 'data' for printing addresses. For a one off or just a few I would use a sheet of 24 labels (say) with 3 to a row, and 8 rows.
Does this help?

The printer will print one label correctly, then feed out a blank one. when the next label is printed, the printer reverse feeds the blank label into the printer to print the next one, but not far enough...

This sounds like a size issue, meaning that your label has too many lines and that kicks to the "next page".

Look for too many line items on first label.

Zebra TLP 2844 printing landscape instead of portrait.

To change from "page mode" (protrait) to "line mode" (landscape) you need to complete the following steps.
1. turn the power off
2. hold the feed button down
3. turn power on, the feed button should blink, release the button.
4. when the feed button blinks green, press and hold until it turns red or amber. release the button.
5. turn the power off.
6. hold down the feed button and turn power on, the button should blink and release. it will now print a calibration page. 4 blanks followerd by 2 text pages, the last saying "Now in DUMP" press feed to exit. on the first print, the 4th line down will say either page mode or line mode.

Why is my Zebra printer printing every other label?

The labels you are printing have an extra line feed (a blank line) after the last printed line. Remove them.

Remove any "FormFeed" from the label run, if you are doing a "merge".

Line 1 Name
Line 2 Address
Line 3 Address2
Line 4 City St Zip
Line 5 <Blank>
Line 6 <Blank>

Tlp 2844 printing first page ok then prints another blank

First thing to try is a reset of the printer.
1) Turn printer off.
2) Hold down feed button whilst turning printer on.
3) Let go of the feed button as soon as it starts to flash and then wait.
4) Printer will measure out 4 labels then print out a Hex dump ending with a not to "Push Feed to Exit"
5) Push feed

Follow the above instructions, if you mess around tapping the feed button (not following the above) you can change the printer between line mode and page mode. To swap that back is another storey.
