its likely the fan. if it sounds like metal clicking or grinding, its the fan bearings.

it could also simply be the plastic fan case rattling/rubbing against another hood accessory.

In winter the outside unit sounds like a rubbing/ticking noise


Sounds like ice coming of the coil. That would explain the ticking. The rubbing could be ice buildup before the defrost cycle or it's building on the blades of the fan throwing it of balance a bit.

Visually inspect the fan and the inside of the fan housing. It sounds like it's rubbing against something or is loose and therefore rubbing against something. May be as simple as adjusting and tightening a bolt or removing something that got into the fan housing.

I have a rooftop unit 10tons when i turn the fan on it makes a rubbing sound i remover the fan and the motor the motor make no noise I changed the berrings in the fan but it still makes the loud rubbing...


the unit may settled and it is rubbing against something it may be the cover...run the unit on low and see then to high that may lead you to the location good luck

My power box is making a clicking sound


by power box do you mean power supply? if so then the fan inside your power supply is probably clipping something as it rotates. I would suggest replacing it because if its not the fan then its failing. If you dont mean power supply just your PC, then it would be the same, a loose wire or something is rubbing one of the fans inside the case, either a cooling fan or the cpu fan.
