Question about Dell Latitude C610 Notebook
Your screen brightness depends on the level that you have set it when the system is running under battery or ac adapter. On windows go to control panel and look for the power options and check the settings for the screen brightness. Also if you are running on battery power you can increase the brightness using the <FN> then up and down arrow keys.
Other issue would be that the lcd is dim, but if you look closer you can see the image. This problem is related to the backlight of the lcd. Go to bios if its still the same, or connect an external monitor to isolate between the lcd and the video card
