When i try to load itunes I get a %APPDATA%\.

OK...i just fixed my itunes and firefox...everything is working FINE now

follow the link's steps http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549 and for that last table i just left mine as %PUBLIC%. Just make sure the lines match.
then follow this link to uninstall itunes and its components http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistaprograms/thread/5f909d31-1b10-42a4-a820-af653061baaf/?prof=required.

you have to make sure everything that has to do with itunes is uninstalled then restart and install again.

everything should work.

Error 1606

Re: Please Help Unable to Install TIVO Desktop -- Error 1606. Could not access network location %APPDATA%\

The response to "Echo %appadata%" should be
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming
A space in the user name shouldn't be a problem, but creating a new user may fix the problem because it will create the account with default registry settings which will hopefully have the missing %appdata% information.
If you want to check on this before creating the new user, just for curiosity's sake, check the following Registry key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders and check the value for AppData in the right hand pane. If it's missing, then that would explain the problem. It should be as listed above, substituting the UserName with the folder name for the user under Users.
Also check the key
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
The value of this key should be
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming
More keys to check:
HKCU\Volatile Environement (1)
HKU\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders (2)
HKU\Sxxxxx\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders (2)
HKU\Sxxxxx\Volatile Environement (1)
The values in (1) should have the full path spelled out, the values in (2) should use the %USERPROFILE% variable in the path. If the value under HKU\.DEFAULT is missing or bad, then creating a new user probably won't work either. If that value is missing, then I would recommend a clean reinstall of Windows because there is no telling what else is messed up also.

The value for AppData in the registry key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
is C:\Users\Murray Admin\AppData\Roaming
In the key the key
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
The value for AppData is %APPDATA%
The value for Local AppData is %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local

In HKCU\Volatile Environement (1)
The value for HOMEPATH is \Users\Murray Admin
In HKU\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders (2)
The value for AppData is %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming (all the keys have the %USERPROFILE%\ )
In HKU\Sxxxxx\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders (2)
The value in one of the \Sxxxxx\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\UserShell Folders keys for AppData is

%APPDATA% (Missing the %USERPROFILE%\ ) --- Could this be the problem???
All the other values within do contain %USERPROFILE%\

Do you think editing the key, adding %USERPROFILE%\ would do the trick? If so, it would be alot eaiser then
a re-install. There is not much junk on it as this pc is only about a month and a half old. The other machine
is about six months old. Both are from the same manufacturer (Compaq) but different models.

Also - Using the set command the value returned for %APPDATA% are:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6001]
Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\Users\Murray Admin>set
....
TEMP=C:\Users\MURRAY~1\AppData\Local\Temp
TMP=C:\Users\MURRAY~1\AppData\Local\Temp
C:\Users\Murray Admin>

Unable to update my protection after uploading new 2009 Micro Trend Internet Security package using a 64-bit operating system. Error message advises to check my proxy settings. I've done that. System is...

this is the resolution i got from trend micro regarding this error. it worked for me, so i thought i should share: I have reviewed your case and I understand that you are getting an error message that says “Unable To Update Your Protection” when updating the Trend Micro Consumer Product. With regard to your concern, this problem happens if there’s a missing component in your computer’s Registry. Let us configure the registry of your computer using the Registry Editor of Windows. Refer to the following. 1. Click on the Start button or the Windows Orb Button. 2. Windows XP: Click on Run then type regedit on the text field then click on the OK button. Windows Vista: Type regedit on the Start Search above the Windows Orb button then press Enter key on your keyboard. And the Registry Editor window will appear. 3. Click on the plus sign (+) or the arrow sign (>) besides HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. 4. Click on the plus sign (+) or the arrow sign (>) besides SOFTWARE. 5. Click on the plus sign (+) or the arrow sign (>) besides Microsoft. 6. Click on the plus sign (+) or the arrow sign (>) besides Windows. 7. Click on the plus sign (+) or the arrow sign (>) besides CurrentVersion. 8. Click on the plus sign (+) or the arrow sign (>) besides Explorer. 9. Click on the Shell Folders. 10. Look for the Common Appdata entry on the right panel. If there’s a Common Appdata entry on the list: - Double click on the Common Appdata entry and the Edit String window will appear. - Windows XP: Type C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data on the text field under Value Data. Windows Vista: Type c:\ProgramData on the text field under Value Data. - Click on the OK button. If there’s no Common Appdata entry on the list: - Right click on an empty space and options will appear. - Click on New and options will appear. - Click on the String Value option. - Set the name to Common Appdata. - Double click on the Common Appdata entry and the Edit String window will appear. - Windows XP: Type C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data on the text field under Value Data. Windows Vista: Type c:\ProgramData on the text field under Value Data. - Click on the OK button. 11. Close the Registry Editor window. 12. Restart the computer for the changes to take effect. After doing the suggested solutions, you should now be able to update the program successfully.

Hey there, I was trying to

I guess I found a solution for the problem.
I also got this error message after installing ControlCenter3. Failed to start ControlCentre3 - re-install software, with the error No CC3-001-00001907. The numbers at the end can change, but that's not important.
I have two laptops running vista. I got this error with the 1st laptop. Then I tried it with the second laptop, it worked fine. That made me think: On the first laptop I had tried to install the ControlCenter3 from the CD, but it turned out that the CD did not support Vista. Then I got the vista driver/ControlCenter3 package from the Brother website. This is the one that did not work on laptop one. What I then guessed was, that I had some ugly remains from the installation of the old driver (not for vista). I started cleaning the registry. First of all I run the driver uninstall program from Brother (free from their website) then I cleaned the registry with CCleaner (freeware). Still that was not enough. I started the regedit program and started searching for the term Brother. It was still there in about 10 or more places. I deleted all records that were connected with my brother printer (a DCP-130C). Then I run CCleaner once more. Then I installed the vista driver package (from brother website). Restarted and voila: it worked. ControlCenter3 workes fine now. I started the ControlCenter3 update (also on brother website) and finally with the scanner utility put the scanner resolution limit up higher. That's it.
Before working with the registry make a backup, please.
This procedure should also work for other brother printers using the controlcenter3. It should also work for other systems than vista.
Cheers, hope this was helpful.
Edi
