Its really hard to be able to tell ya without knowing what kind of tv that you have. along with the same with dvd player, vcr ect.

How ever I will try my best to kind of explain the general concept of it all.

On the back, and/or on the front of your tv your gonna see a yellow, red, and white plug. The yellow is always the video and the white is left audio and the red is the right audio.

On yoru dvd player and vcr if your tv has multiple inputs of the yellow, red, and white (make sure it says input near them) on the back of your tv. Then you can run a direct line from the (output) ones of your vcr and dvd right into your tv.
Then just change the "input" channel on your tv to switch between the diffrent ones" Now for your tivo and direct tv, normally these are just one box not sure why you got two, but the round cable (ajax cable) just run the output one into the input one of the tivo, then run it from the output of the tv, and screw that cable right into the back of the tv. Then just screw the actual dish cable right into the input of the direct tv box.
(note) their might be several inputs for the RCA (red, yellow, white) cables on the back on your direct tv box that you can hook your dvd, player and vcr into. if you dont got all the open slots in the back of your tv for it.

But the entire concept of it all is just making sure that on the input of the direct tv box is your cable that comes from your wall, then go from the output of that into the input of your tivo, then that output right into the tv.. as for your dvd and vcr, just make sure that those outputs run directly into the inputs of the tv, or directv, or tivo.

Hope this helps.. sorry it cant be more detailed without knowing exactly what kind of products you have.

If you supply the make and model number of your TV it will be easier to provide you with instructions on how to connect all of your units.

There has got to be a way

I have this model..was trying to hook it up to a directv hughes receiver. After a day of trying and many curse words I found that using this hookup works . Hook up your satellite connection to you tv as usual...Now plug rca cables(red, yellow white) into the corresponding holes on the BACK of the Directv receiver ..now plug the rca cables into the FRONT of the Magnavox player...you will only use find holes for the white and yellow(that's ok) Now hook up up the dvd player to the tv using the rca connection back of dvd/vcr player..or if your tv only has a coax connection you will need a rf modulator available at walmart etc. You will run the dvd/vcr on L2. The key is the connections to the FRONT of the dvd/vcr player..I hope this helps..:)

DVD-VCR connection when there's already cable & Tivo

Use the RCA connections of your TV to hook up the DVD/VCR, connect the "VIDEO OUT" of your TV to the "VIDEO IN" of the VCR and "VIDEO OUT" from your VCR to one of the video inputs of your TV. You need the double connection in case you want to record something to a VHS, otherwise, just hook up a cable from "Video OUT" of the VCR to any of the "Video IN" inputs of your TV.

Are you talking about recording from the list? You might have to set the recorder to record chanel 3. I can't check it because my dvd recorder is broken. I haven't done it in a while, I remember going to list and telling tivo to record to vcr and recording chanel 3, but you can't watch tv till it's finished. If you are talking about a connection try an a/b switch. All I can say is experiment

Try this: On the Tivo remote press and hold the TV Power button and the Directv/TIVO button at the same time. Hold both buttons down for about 4 seconds or until remote light stays red. Then press the channel up button until the tv turns off. You may press the button over 100 times. You need to go slow. When the TV turns off press the enter button (or select button).
