Question about Hawking (HMPS1U) Print Server
I have been able to get the HMPS1U print server to work on another printer, but I would like to have it work for the Cannon Imageclass D780.
The Cannon is a multi-function USB printer/copier. Unfortunately the Cannon printer requires that Bidirectional Support be enabled in order to print.
If I enable Bi-directional Support and connect the Cannon printer to the HMPS1U, the Cannon's status window gives me this error:
"Incorrect Port: The Device is connected to a port which is not supported. Check the port."
On the printer that works with HMPS1U, if I enable Bi-directional Support, I can still print through the print server. The first document printed prints immediately, but then the print queue gets clogged with other items (that disappear after several minutes). If I DISABLE bi-directional support, I can print through the print server perfectly on that printer.
After talking with the Hawking tech support, I have set up the printer port manually to these settings as per tech support's instructions:
Port name: USB1_LPR
IP Address: (the one that shows when the Hawking software utility is used)
Queue Name: USB1_LQ
In the printer properties it is set to "use printer online"
I am using Windows XP professional.
