This should be an easily fixed problem by any appliance repairman. The unit that switches the hot and cold water is worn out and needs replaced. What I found out is you will be surprised how well it washes your clothes with just cold water. The repair for this should be under $100 though if you find an independent repairman.

Washer comes up with f-05 code what does this mean?

Could the unit possibly be a whirlpool duet or kenmore elite model? They are 99.9% the same. If so, it is a temperature sensor error. If you have the unit set for warm or hot water, and not enough hot water makes it into the tub by the time it is full, the washer realizes this and drains the water, to refill with warm or hot water. If the tap water never gets warm, the unit will fault out and act strange.

If the water in the tub is in fact warm or hot like it should be, the water temp sensor should convey this information to the control board. If the sensor has failed, the control board never sees this change, and sets the same error code.

If you cannot or are not willing to dig deep into this machine, call a service tech out. Chances are, the tech can have your washer running again in an hour or two. Please mark me down as helpful.

I have a Kenmore washer model 110.98762792 and im having a problem with the cold water. When the water temperature switch is set to the cold/cold position the washer does not fill with cold water. W

Since U get warm water that tells you that the cold and hot water solenoids are both operating. Ergo the anomaly has to be with the device that controls temperature.

This seems to me to be that the hoses are connected backwards. It matters very much which hose is connected to which inlet. Make sure that the hoses are on Hot to "H" and Cold to "C" on the machine.

My new estate washer with 4 water selections actually only has 2, hot and cold. The warm water setting fills with lukewarm water for a while then shoots in cold water for a while and back and forth. In the...

Yes, this is normal. All newer washer have auto temp control fills. This is to meet energy saving requirements. The less hot water used the more energy saved. Most hot settings on washers give out basically lukewarm water. The detergent made today is made to work well with cooler temperature water, so things will still come out clean.

I DON'T GET WARM WATER, WHEN SET ON WARM, ONLY GET COLD

If the setting is only hot and cold, there will be no
warm water coming out. At warm setting if it is
present, it should give you warm water.

Water is not hot enough

What a great energy saver response....run water through another tap in the house in order to fill the pipes with hot water! I have the same problem; cannot even get WARM water in my tub. I have 2 solutions: #1, on my incoming water pipes are regular faucet handles which I am going to attach a hose on the hot side that will reach into the washer and manually mix the temperature. #2, purchase an old refurb washer at a used appliance store that HAS a hot-water setting and hope they will take the "wonderful, new energy saver" as a trade. There are just some times you really need HOT water. I can't imagine washing diapers in cold, although I haven't had to do that in many years. Energy saving factory settings: capital "B", capital "S"!!!

Cold water starts and stops when washing

sounds like your washer has an auto temp. control if so the washer mesures the temp of the water and put in the manufacture set temp for that setting this board could be bad alowing only cold water to come into the machine. you could also have low hot water pressure at the washer be sure the hot water is turned all the way on. you may want to check to make sure no trash is in the hot water side of the water valve there is a screen in there where the hose conects you can remove that screen and clean it im sure one of these solutions will help you

Cool water comes out on warm water setting.

The water that is coming from the hot water pipes is likely not hot because it cooled down while sitting in the pipes. We had similar issues with hot water not being ready when our appliance needed it. We heard about Redytemp from our plumber. We have yet to have anymore problems with having hot water when needed.
