Ethernet light keeps blinking

my ethernet light on the modem keeps blinking whenever i start an internet connection. i have a speedtouch modem supplied by telus. they say the problem is not on their end. everyone i talk to says they always say that. how can i tell if the problem is with the modem,networkcard, or something else?

-   My ethernet light keeps blinking all the time my Thomson SpeedTouch modem is on and I have trouble downloading data and logging to websites. Telus says the modem is faulty and their connection is fine. So I went and got another modem frm my ISP - and it's blinking again!! -   flying_pengu

-   My modem does not work any more with my wireless router. The internet light on the router continues to blink. Once I place the modem in standby, the internet light on my router has a strong light. I can only connect to the internet by plugging directly to my lap top, from the modem. It's completely modem's problem, every modem has internal chip that's where it's store the configuration i think it is chip that is malfunctioning, change modem this problem will solve
