Hi texas bel,
Happy Holidays
well, time to reinstall OS.
Go to BIOS and see if the hard drive is detected fine and 32 bit acces for HD is enable.
2) put your OS CD on the CD and wait to the display tells you to reinstall the OS, continue with instructions on display.
3) Start the Format C: when tells you to do so.
you will be ok.

Diskboot failure insert system disk

What was the problem in the first place? Why are you trying to restore the computer?

Or reading wrong; do you mean the computer will not start? Boot?

Disk Boot. -> The bootstrap files on the harddrive.
Bootstrap <- Make it easier to understand?

The basic Windows files.

Can't access restoration on the harddrive with F11? Quite common.
I mean, how crazy is that? Let's put the restoration files, (Basic Windows files), on the harddrive? So if the harddrive goes bad?????

Suggest you use the Restoration Disk.

{Pre-built computer manufacturers were packing the Restoration Disk/s with the computer. As time went by the manufacturers saw the users were not using the disk/s, or loosing them.

Didn't want to use, because of fearing computer damage if they error, or didn't even want to try.

Okay. Put the restoration files on the harddrive, then.
Have the new owner make a BACKUP, when the owner turns the computer on for the first time.
Save a few cents without providing the disk for each computer.
(Take a few cents times 50,000 computers, or more)

Hardly anyone makes a backup disk, when the computer is turned on for the first time. If the harddrive goes bad you cannot access the restoration files.

Computer manufacturers have gone back to packing the restoration disk, with the computer }

Don't have the Restoration Disk? (I won't say anything about not making a backup disk. Could be failure time with it, also)

Go to the back of the computer tower, or up on the side. Write down the Serial Number. It's in the white Service Tag. S/N = Serial Number
(NO, do not post it on the internet. Only to an authorized HP representative)

Call HP Support.
In the USA call 1-800-474-6836
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Restoration Disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship. $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

For other countries use HP Worldwide Support,

Do I think the Restoration Disk will repair the problem?
Dunno. Don't know what the original problem was. You haven't stated it yet.

How do I restore to factory settings . I have restore disc part 900345 when I tried using it nothing really prompted me what to do . Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need to change the boot order to make the machine read the cd drive first. When starting the computer you need to press F2.This will get you into the start up bios menu.Find the boot order and make it use the cd drive as the first device. Now restart your machine withe the cd in the drive.

After restore with acer discs keep getting disk boot failure. Just fitted new hard drive as old one seized

You instaled the restore disk onthe new HD?

this is a problem with the drive,

try using a different power plug for the drive, check that every thing is pluged in all the way on the drive side and mother board side,
check the jumper in the back of the drive make sure its in the right spot,

If the restore disk worked with the new drive try to rerun them,

It could be a bad drive or bad install,, the restore disk look ok clean?

My eMachines T3882 with Windows XP just reboots over and over

Sounds like a sick hard drive. When it starts to reboot, press F8 and choose Windows Diagnostic Test. It will show a hard drive failure if one exists. If it finds a hard drive error, the hard drive is junk and needs replacing. Once replaced, you can run your restore/recovery disk to install Windows back to the condition it was in when you bought it.

Can't factory restore dell inspiron 531 (windows xp).

You might want to try going into setup and setting your boot drive options to DVD drive as your 1st, HD as 2nd and Floppy as 3rd. Put your windows disk in the DVD before boot and run the program from DVD.

Your machine has a hardware problem. Open the case and blow all the dust from it. Reseat all components you can. If that does not help, remove memory and try using one memory stick at a time. Change the memory slot. If it still will not boot you either have a video card, motherboard, or power supply problem.
