Question about Nintendo Wii Console

No output to tv

I brought the wii to the inlaws for xmas. It was working fine on friday, when I took it somewhere else. I've been gentle with it the whole time.

Now, however, I plug it into the tv and nothing happens. Well, the tv turns off the "no input" message, recognising that it's been plugged in, but nothing else. The wii powers up, and spins the disc. It doesn't seem to be like the other "black screen" problem, as I don't get sound either.

Please help. I'm one of the lucky ones who got a wii last xmas, so it's out of warranty.

I can't take it back for a refund - as I said in the original post, "I'm one of the lucky ones who got a wii last xmas, so it's out of warranty."

i dropped my nes wii box, it was working, now all I get is a bleack screen, any ides

The problem seems to have been caused by setting the refresh rate to
60mhz, then using a different tv which only did 50. When I plugged it
in again at home it worked fine. Sorry if this doesn't help anyone

Wii has worked fine at my house. Plugged it into TV at inlaws and sister in laws and it worked fine. took it to grandparents house and tried two different Tvs and I get no audio or video signal to TV. It has not been dropped or banged.

    Please help.

Whitemouse, you're an idiot. unless these people have no experience in electronics at all, they obviously know what you are talking about. i had the same problem, did everything i could think of, and i am a CS major, so i know a thing or two about electronics. i had to send it to nintendo. they had to replace the motherboard. it was because it overheated and shorted out something. so my advice is send it in. and never let either of the two fans be obstructed at all.

I had to send it to nintendo. they had to replace the motherboard. im pretty sure it is an overheating problem. just make sure both fans are never obstructed.

That's a crappy solution isawhotpink. Did you plug the yellow end in the port of the tv that says video or the port looks yellow, Put white in audio left or white port and red in audio right or red port. If your remote as an input button hit that and turn your wii on. Input 1 is for the front of the tv, Input 2 is for the back, or for some tv's channel 00.

Hello, I am sorry about your issue. Did you make any changes to the output resolution on the Wii. The output must be at 480i for the receiver to up-convert to HDMI. If there is a problem with the receiver I suggest a work around by connecting the component [red, blue, green] video outputs to the TV and the audio connections [red, white] to the receiver. Thank you, Onkyo USA

How do i change the output signal on my phillips lcd tv i.e pal, ntsc? I have set up my wii on the inlaws tv and it is nly displaying black and white and one solution suggested was to change the output on...

New flat panel (HDTV) units do handle PAL and NTSC, but the change is automatic when you plug the source into the TV.

For example I have an NTSC and a PAL Sony HiDef camcorder, and if i plug each one into the same HDMI port, my TV still displays vid from each unit, without me changing anything as the TV detects the format and displays as needed.

This other person may have meant resolution when you said output. Especially for the Component sockets, if you can, set the TV to its lowest resolution, maybe 480i, and reset (press reset for a few seconds) the Wii so it defaults to its lowest output resolution

See if this helps.

Nintendo wii dance mat was unwrapped for xmas, can't work it

If your Wii console is facing you standing vertically with the power button at the top, look for two doors that open on the top facing the ceiling. Open the compartment at the front an you'll find four ports that will fit the plug for the dance mat. We plugged ours into the closest port to the front of the unit and it's working fine.

Nintendo Wii AV Cables not work

It could be a problem inside the Wii where it only outputs a signal through HD. Have you tried a different TV using the original cables? If the problem persists I would recommend calling Nintendo.
