Question about Acer V223WBD Monitor

Open Question

V223w goes to sleep and will not recover

I have deployed about 40 of the Acer V223w monitors and have connected the using the DVI-D cable. When the system puts the monitor to sleep it does not wake up and I get the (do do) sound like when you plug in or unplug a USB device. It just keeps doing that over and over and I have to reboot the machine to get it to recover. I thought it was somthing with the computer but now after seing someone else with the problem I will start looking at the monitor.

SOURCE: Acer V223W monitor goes to sleep and doesn't awake

Go To Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Select "restore my computer to an earlier date". Look at the LIST of Restore points. Find the DATE when this "Security Update" was installed and Select the last date before it was installed and Follow the "Wizard" to Restore it to BEFORE the Update you think CHanged Things. Too many variables to figure out without seeing it to determine what was changed but that will correct the situation and you will not loose anything.

Resolution issue Acer V223w

Hi, I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble....
THis is a tricky one. My first step would be to connect another screen to your G5 and connect your V223w to another Mac... Are you able to do this, do you have access to another system, could even be a PC ( in the worst case )
Ideally, having 2 screens connected to your G5 would be the best situation.
THis way, with one working screen, you can attempt to modify the resolution and refresh rates on the V223w from the good screen, be sure to activate screen mirroring, otherwise you will not have access to the other window of monitors system preferences.
If you can get two monitors connected and mirroring is not an option, then either your monitor is KAPUT or the video card secondary port is KAPUT, try switching the port of the card your displays are connected to. I think they are both DVI ports. If the opposite screen is now working, then you know it's the port on the video card.
Hope this will get you through it.

DVI cable not working

If you still have your old monitor plug it back in for a bit and load the drivers for the new monitor (from the disk which came with the new monitor). Right click on your desktop and choose properties and set your display resolution to something like 1024 x 768. Shut down the pc and connect your new monitor to it with the dvi adapter. If it is recognised ok you can then set the resolution from 1024 x 768 to the recommended amount for your new screen. The refresh rate is also important as some lcd screens only work at a certain level. There should be an auto switch on the monitor and if you press this it sets the display to optimum, - or should do.
