No sound on dell dimension 4600

According to Microsoft, Sound Blaster 1040 fully compatible with Win 7 and does not need any extra software. Use Windows 7 Update and check for updates, under optional as well.

I have creative sound balster live sb200 and i use the windows7 but the dirver is not compatibile with my windows please provide the tips where i download the driver of my sound card.

I never could find a Creative driver that worked in 7. The only workaround I could find was to use the kxaudio project generic wdm drivers. They were glitchy, but a solid knowledge of the driver fine-tuning options migth be sufficient to fix the latency artifacts I experienced. There is a users manual incorporated with the kx download, I just didn't bother to read it because I was rolling back my OS to XP Pro 64-bit for a whole bunch of reasons. Hope this helps.

Sound card

I have done some searching on the creative site and online and I believe you just need to download the SoundBlaster Live! driver pack from the Creative Site. You, alternatively, can register and browse to try and find a compatible driver.

Vista Ultimate = no sound

Looks like you need to buy a new soundcard. Creative Labs makes an excellent 7.1 digital card for PCI slot that is relatively cheap. Just make sure when you purchase the card, it is Vista Compatable.
