Question about Televison & Video

I was wondering if a non Picture in picture LCD TV can be updated or adapted to allow PIP without having to buy a new TV? I want to be able to use the PC and watch the TV at the same time... iff you can update, how would this be done? many Thanks Adi

Usually if the TV does not have this feature, then there is no way to program it to have PIP. There are firmware updates that are released occasionally for the TV but usually they just fix compatibility issues and do not introduce new features for the TV,

You will have to use the HDMI input to go digital. Without looking at the set I don't know what type of hookups you have in the back but there should be numerous ways to hook up to the digital link. You may also need an adapter depending on what kind of hook - up you have. Let me know if you have any other problems.

Hdtv picture freeze

I also have a Brand new Sony Bravia 52" LCD with Comcast Cable (motorola box). When switching between HD Channels sometimes the left side of the screen shows a smushed version of the new channel, and the right side is a frozen picture of the previous channel. I correct this by switching to a non HD channel and back. Cable or TV problem I wonder?

Regarding PIP (Picture in picture) facility

Sorry to say, you may not be able to do this. This will require you to have multiplexed inputs going into the TV. The out from the Tatasky set top will give out only one channel at a time.

Picture In Picture Feature

Hi LEE,
I just went over the specs on the 42PFL5603D. It doesn't have PIP. I'm sure the guy in the shop was confused with another TV.
There is a software upgrade for that model TV. It wouldn't give you PIP. But, It will fix some of the problems they are have with the TV right now.
Hope I answered your questions.

Mitsubishi tv model VS6061 rear projection with rolling picture.

I know this is an old thread, but I would like to post this information in the hope that someone will find it useful.
I just finished fixing this problem on my 1994 VS-6061... the problem is the PIP (Picture In Picture) board located on the Power Signal board. The PIP board contains the numbers 530B552. I bypassed the PIP board by following the directions I found at the following link:
http://forum.doityourself.com/entertainment-center-tvs-stereos-vcrs-dvds/130383-mitsubishi-cs-35301-rolling-picture-problem.html
"Plug in a 4.7ufd @ 35v filter cap (+)at pin 5,(-)at pin 11. Plug in a .01ufd(any voltage) between pin 7 and 9. Just plug the caps into the socket, where the PIP board was mounted (they don't need to be soldered). Just don't let the leads from the two capacitors touch, as they cross each other. The 0.01 cap is non-polarity, so either way it plugged is fine. Basically you will bypass y-signal through 4.7u, in pin 5, out pin 11, and bypass c-signal in pin 7, out pin 9 of the PIP socket.”

The bypass requires 2 capacitors: One 4.7ufd @ 35v and one Non-Polar 0.01ufd @ any voltage.
Remove the PIP board, then plug the two capacitors into the socket where the PIP board was mounted: plug the 4.7ufd capacitor with (+)at pin 5,(-)at pin 11 and plug in the non-polar .01ufd capacitor between pins 7 and pin 9.
If there is a ground wire (possibly brown) soldered to one of the tin cases on the PIP board, then you should connect this ground wire to the PIP socket either at pin 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 which are grounds of the socket.
This PIP board was used in many Mitsubishi televisions and they were plagued with problems...This is why many of these older Mitsubishi televisions had similar problems…
Good luck

PIP

Let me know what you find out, I have a similar problem. I can get the PIP screen to come up but it will not allow me to have it on an input that actually shows a picture - just blue screen.

Pip and pop

It sounds like your other TV had 2 tuners which allowed you to watch 2 programs at the same time. You can still watch two programs, but the second one will have to come from a second source. See below for the possible combinations that the PIP/POP feature can be used by this TV.
