if the leads from the cone are not visible there is not much hope. if there is a small bubble in the center of the front side of sub, it is called a dust cap.this is here to protect the spot where the leads meet the voice coil. carefully cut into it with a razor. if possible you may be able to reconnect the leads with silver solder..... but i doubt.

Could you put up a close up picture of what happened to your subs? Depending on condition, it might be salvaged

Its ok, no biggie. So you are saying that there is no bare wire showing? All you have to do is take a razor, and lightly apply pressure on the wire to create a line on the wire so you can pull off the cover and re-soldier. Just do this about half an inch to an inch from the tip of the wire. Its not hard, i've been doing it since I was 4.

My sub wont come on. but all the outher speakers work fine . cant figure it out?

I assume this is connected to a AV Receiver? There is generally a low level sub out, with an RCA jack. That should go to your sub input. The old subs had the speaker outputs on the back of the receiver connected to the sub input, and all the other speakers were connected to the sub, but that system hasn't been used in decades.

My wire got pulled off my sub how can i fix it

Hello gatmanfromda,

I'm assuming you mean the "tinsel" lead going from the connector to the sub cone. In many cases, the wire can be soldered back on. It takes care and patience and you need to be sparing with the solder and prevent it from stiffening the tinsel lead. Otherwise it will tear out again when the sub cones moves out. If the cone itself was damaged when the lead pulled off, you can use silicone sealant to repair it. Again, be sparing with the silicone and allow it 24 hours to set up before trying to operate the sub. If the wire pulled off from the connector terminal, just solder it back on.

Hope this helps.

Amplifier wont move subs

I dont know if this will help you but start at the deck and make sure that the outputs(RCA) arent crossed over to highpass and do the same at the amp make sure that its set for lowpass- set half gain -bass boost half gain- subsonic minimum - If that doesnt help try using an i pod with an adaptor that you can play it right into the amp this is to see if you are getting signal from the deck to the amp if it doesnt work with an i pod or mp3 plugged directly into it then you may have got you a blown amp going on- good luck with that

SELF POWERED SUB BGW M1100

WoW ! Simply remarkable!
I called the company that bought-out BGW in 2003.
"American Amplifiers Inc." California
I talked to Angie who was the best ! she transfered me over to
the Master Tech/Engineer (Larry)
I explained to Larry my problem. He pulled the schematics and we
inspected EACH input /output off the binding posts / large transformer.
21 in all 7 on each side and 7 on top. Larry asked me to identify each colored
wire attached. He discovered the wireing was all backwards and NOT
where they were supposed to be! Disaster in the making! We literally
rewired the hole power grid over my cell phone ! (1 HOUR), double and triple checked each
imput. The subs are back up and thumping hard. (they would be dead without AAI)
AMERICAN AMPLIFIER TECH. INC. IS THE MOST PROFESSIONAL, KIND HEARTED,PEOPLE,READY TO HELP ANY BGW OR AATI CLIENTS I HAVE EVER EVERDELT WITH IN MY (25) YEARS AS A PRO ROAD MUSICIAN!
PLEASE DO BUSINESS with this AWESOME COMPANY :)

It's very likely that the output transistors have failed in the amp. They will need to be replaced.

Sub Wiring

if you wire the subs in parallel you would achieve 2 ohms which would theritically double your rms, sadly this isn't the case what with wire resistance and such you might get around 270 rms still not that bad. to wire in parellel you run a positive off the amp to the positive on one sub then run a wire from the first subs negative to the second subs positive the run from the second subs negative to the amps negative and bam 2 ohms but be warned this will put more stress on your amp and cause it to heat up faster. peace bro and best of luck

My amp works but my sub doesn't...!!!????????????

Whats the condition of your amplifier? New , Used, Old?

You might have a blown channel off your amplifier, this may cause little or no sound. You will have some distortion, crackle sound and then maybe nothing at all. What kind of subs are you running to it? Make sure the subs arent blown and check the voice coils to see that they are not torn off the subs , these are the 2 little silver or copper wires that are connected from the speaker connectors to the sub itself.

Let me know what happens?
