Question about Samsung Office Equipment & Supplies

I have a CLX-3175FN color laser printer. I have only made about 6,000 copies. The quality has always been rather poor--even when I choose "best" as the printing option. Now the copies it is making is barely legible yet the supply life on toner is fine. What is the problem?

    I need to know how often this happens. It seems impossible to me that this is necessary when the printer is only one month old!

    i have a CLX-3175FN laser printer which is producing very poor quality print...I have used it one month. The quality has never been that great so I always used the "best" setting rather than the "normal" just so I can get halfway decent quality printouts. I have replaced all the cartridges. The print is barely legible.

    One of your technical support people said to clean it, but that is supposed to be necessary after a long period of usage. So that can't be the problem. Please help me...I can't stand it anymore. The printer is now disconnected and I am using an old one which now seems like a high quality printer compared to the other one...and it was made in 1999.

    I need to know what will improve the quality of my print. Is it the imaging unit? Is it the toner? Is it the fuser? How do I know? I have only used it one month!

Definitely it is a toner problem. the powder ink might be all consumed. try to use another toner and see if the problem is the used up toner or the printer. but most likely, it is just a consumed toner.

    you will know what is faulty by isolation: imaging...fusing assembly...toner... software settings


    now, software settings is easily checked. just set your printing to best and see if it is indeed printing in best quality. failed?


    now try to change your toner. OR try to use the one you have now but slowly shake it to see if you can feel the presence of powder inks inside it. then use it. to completely isolate the toner issue, use a brand new toner to see the good results. still failed?


    now check your fusing assembly: it is definitely working since your printer is still printing.


    now check your imaging assembly since it may now be defective and needs to be replaced.

First of all, this printer goes through ink like crazy, you will only get about 700 pages printing in Gray scale / Draft to a toner cartridge. Second, the Imaging unit for me needed to be replaced at about 10000 pages, you may need to replace it early. You can improve the quality slightly by setting the quality higher on both the printer and the in the software on your PC. But I found the cost of maintaining it wasn't worth it. I switched back to my old HP laser.

    Take out the cartridges, wipe them clean using a soft cloth, now keep them soaked for 15 - 20 minutes in alcohol or luke warm water, take them out, wipe them using the cloth again. Let them dry for 15 minutes in open air, insert them back. Now try printing, 1st few printouts might come very light, but should be fine after 15 - 20 copies.

    This is usually required if using printer after a long time as the ink gets jammed/stuck/thick and is unable to come out of the nozzell freely.

You have to select monochrome print settings first. go to properties of your printer and choose the tab where you get to select between B&W and color.

I need to downgrade to previous firmware for Samsung CLX printer. (clx-3170 0r clx-3175)


Unfortunately, once you install a firmware upgrade it is permanent. Driver updates can be reversed but not firmware. That is why you should always have a definite reason for upgrading the firmware.

3175fn is acolor printer. if you want to set only grey or black only print. you have to go to printers & fax. select the printer right click properties and go to color and set as gery or black only print.

To run a quick check on your black toner, insert your old black toner back to the printer.

press on the menu button -> system -> report-> supplier info-> print. and same for your new toner, if it show u both the old n new black toner are under the same serial number. the new toner might be faulty. Invalid toner detected.

get the new toner with the box packing back to the shop for replacement.

Constant Paper jams on CLX-3175FN


The fact that there appears to be no actual jam tells me that it is not picking up paper out of the tray. Try some alcohol on the pickup rollers, rubbing well. If that helps, replace these rollers.

Samsung color laser MFP CLX-3175FW. Paper jams after the first page is printed and continues to jam each subsequent page. This is the third printer we have tried. Using a MAC computer. Suggestions...


clean the pickup roller that feeds the main tray.
This is an ongoing problem with this printer, even in the single function printers.
I used a toothbrush and water, scrubbing horizontally.
