Question about Panasonic DMR-ES10 DVD Recorder
Mine died about 5 days ago, About Feb 5 09.
Fix was very simple. it involved a drill, a soldering iron, and spare capacitors.
Open up the unit. Spot all bad capacitors. in my case, a 820uf 10v ELNA capacitor was to blame, it had exploded adn opened up. Desolder the bad capacitor, Replace it with a good one, like matsushita or rubycon or nichicon. Random brands like CAPXONS and ELNA and Fuhjyuus are known to die fast. in my case, it got swapped with a matsushita. then the unit powered up again.
I found it funny that panasonic did not use a single one of their own capacitors in teh making of the unit. i spotted lots of Nichicons, which are really good, then lots of ELNAs which are bad, one Capxon and some matsushitas.

I'm sorry I can't suggest a solution but the same thing happened to mine on Christmas Eve! Seems that earlier posters had the same trouble on or near to the same day- surely not a built-in failure programme?!
