Question about Vizio P50HDTV10A 50 in. Plasma HDTV
The problem is intermittent but frequent. Often when the picture changes quickly, like a new scene or a new commercial, a short crackle sound comes from the speakers. If I mute the sound, the crackle is gone, so it's definitely not a sound created directly by a failing component.
The TV is a Vizio brand, 720p 32" LCD purchased 10-6-09 at Target.
Actually, it is a failing component. Quick scene changes often place demands on the power supply. I would guess that the noise is more prevelant when the scenes change from darker ones to lighter ones. Since this set is so new, request a warranty exchange. This set needs to be serviced. Return it to the place of purchase and ask for a replacement. Usually if the set is less than 30 days old, they just exchange it for you.

Testimonial: "Your point about the crackling occurring mostly when the picture goes from dark to light is spot on. It was clearanced, so I'll try a warranty claim. "
