The problem is that you haven't installed the proper audio drivers in your system.

Have your audio driver installed and then try to restart your PC.

My left speaker is not working and it isn't the cable connection. It has been checked and the plug is in all-the-way.

You could just have a loose wire inside the speaker but sometimes one speaker will just go to speaker heaven. Sorry I can't give a better answer and I don't know that brand so I don't know if you can open up the speaker easily to see if there is a loose connection. Now, sometimes the plugs can just wear out too which can be replaced if it is a great set of speakers but again, back to the lack of knowledge about that brand and how hard it is to work on.

I've problem with interanal speakers in Asus VX2S - don't work - externals work fine

It might be a cause of Loose connection or damage of your laptop speakers. Its a hardware problem. Check your Connectivity of Speakers on the motherboard. It might work!

I'VE SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED MY SOUND CARD (C-MEDIA CMI8738 FOR XP) AND I SEE NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER DEVICES ON MY PC BUT I DON'T HEAR A SOUND FROM MY HEADSET WHEN I TRY TO TEST TO PLAY A MUSIC....

I'm assuming that the previous audio drivers have been uninstalled. The card must be made aware that you have speakers and/or headphones plugged in. First open Control Panel > Sounds and make sure the volume is set at maximum and the correct setup is selected - stereo , desktop speakers. Then take out whatever you have plugged in it, reboot the pc, wait for everything to stop (antivirus update, the launching of all the programs) then open the C-Media Power Mixer and verify in there that all the volumes are at maximum. Then connect the plug in the green socket of the card - a popup should appear to ask you what you plugged in. If it doesn't then you will have to do it manually:

I cannot get a sound from my pc. where do i connect the speakers

If the speakers has the common round 3,5mm jack you have to plug it in the green hole at the back of the power. If the speakers has a USB connector you have to put it in any available USB connector at the front or back panel of your computer's tower.

Dontno sound on speakers

Make sure the speaker cable from the speaker is connected to the speaker plug on the machine, usually green. If the speakers have an AC adapter make sure it is plugged into the wall outlet and to the speaker. Make sure the sound card is configured and working correctly. Make sure you don't have the sound muted. I hope this helps. Good luck and have a great day.

We recently moved and now I have no sound I don't think anything was changed when it was hooked up

When you unplugged the speakers the pc forgot they were there so when you plugged them back it ignored them. To make the pc aware of their existance again unplug them, open the Realtek Control Panel RTHDCPL.exe, go to the Audio I/O tab an plug the speakers back - the corresponding jack  from the CP will light up and a new window will appear asking you to select what you have plugged in - select Line Out and OK.
That is all, now you have sound again.

I can not hear anything through my computer speakers. Website sounds, music, or the AOL welcome message. I can only hear if I connect a set of earphones

There should be an audio cord which is green at both ends one end should plug to the corresponding port in bak of your monitor the other should plug into the corresponding green port on your tower. If this doesnt work it may be a compatibility problem.

I've just bought a desktop from Cube (the Polaris ST12) which comes with Creative Inspire T6100 5.1 speaker system. The connection instructions which come with the speakers show 3 cables from the subwoofer...

The blue is for a audio in and pink is the mic. Green is the audio out.
You will need to buy a new video card that has all 4-5 colors (green,,black, orange, blue, pink, white)
That way you can plug in all your connections and it'll work correctly.
