Question about Cameras

3 Answers

Hi, how are you? I have a 2 yr old JVC GR-D750AA i bought in Aust.(I live there too!) It's worked perfectly until last week when i connected to my laptop to transfer video footage from the mini DV tape in the camera to windows movie maker (to make a presentation for my sister's 21st tomorrow night) & i have windows vista running on my laptop. It still worked fine until after i disconnected from the laptop, then a couple of days later, i took the mini DV tape out from the camera & put in a different tape to view (pre-recorded) and all that shows up on the screen is blue. It doesn't even show you the date/time of the footage recorded as it normally does (even when fast forwarding or rewinding!) I sent JVC in Australia an email & they replied with "take it to one of our licensed JVC repairers" (now out of warranty!) I feel that maybe my laptop has changed something in the settings on my camera whilst connected to each other (maybe something to do with compatabilty as i have Vista & often stuffs up other things (eg mp3 player) I'm hoping there is something i can do myself to get it back to normal as my sister wants me to use my camera at her 21st tomorrow night! Can you help me please? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Regards, Steph :-)

Thanks 4 getting back 2 me...

No, the camera won't play any tapes (i've tried a few) that i've pre-recorded. I just get a blue screen.

I didn't record any new footage & i've previously been able to view the tapes that i'm trying to view after using with my laptop. I havn't recorded any footage with the lens cap on either.

    Please help?

    Regards,

    Steph :-)

    Hi,

Thanks 4 helping me with this!

I don't have access to another pc but i don't see how connecting the camera to another pc would do anything as i'm trying to play the mini dv tape in the camera itself & the camera screen is blue when trying to view?!

Is there anything else i can do?

I thought about connecting to my laptop again & see if i can transfer any footage but i'm scared to connect the camera to the pc again! Oh well, I'll just try it...here goes!

    Regards,

    Steph :-)

You may just need to download video codecs to view it.

there is a codec package that has just about every video codec there is its called k light codec pack. I install this on any pc i use here is a link http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=5367&s=775

now if your talking about the tape not playing on the camera itself it may just be a bad dv tape, have you tried a different tape?

if you think some settings may have gotten changed try to reset the settings there should be an option in the camera settings menu.

Hi Steph.

Try connecting the video camera to another computer, such as Windows XP to see if the computer is in fact the problem. If it works, transfer the video to your computer and see if you can open it. This will let you know if it is the PC or the videocamera. Let me know if this helps and we can resolve after this troubleshooting.

If you put in the original tape does it show what you have recorded?
When you were recording with the new tape was the cover lid off the camera lens?

Will the jvc gr-d73e work with windows vista?

providing Vista correctly detects AVC-compliant firewire devices, /any/ camcorder which is compliant with this specification (hence has iLink/i400 connection) should work with it.

The problem is with the ccd in the camera. Here in aust JVC have a free replacement policy at all JVC authorised repairers. The ccd was outsourced and is plain ****, but at least JVC recognised the prob. They have no warranty time limitations on this issue

Connect A JVC GR D31 Camcorder to a Computer Via USB 2

Well I'm afraid not the cable don't not come in such of a way either cause they are different type of cable, but what u can do is buy an external fire wire card for yr PC it comes in PCI format for yr desktop PC. because camcorder in these days do not use USB cables due to the cause that fire wire cable is much faster than the USB ones.
