best thing to do, is set up a gmail mail account or msn messenger account and then you can transfer all your emails sent and received to your new email address also all your contacts too... g mail will do all this for you automatically.

please contact your service provider( Vodafone or Verizon etc ) and ask them to send you the settings for email and MMS. Save them in your phone once they arrive and you will be able to send email. i am saying this general settings since i am unsure of your country, please specify it to get a more precise solution.Thanks
