Question about DISH Network ViP622 DVR DTV Receiver / 180-Hours Video Recorder

When I turn on my tv today I have this message from Dish Network: your smart card does not currently have authorization to view or order this program. Please wait or channel up or down. I just had this dual receiver installed a month ago. I know it's not the weather because I have another dual receiver and it is working fine. I've tried powering the receiver down to reset it, but that didn't work.

I have had similar problem, all you can do is call dish net and explain to them what has happened. They can usually send information through there satellite to your receiver to correct this problem. Your card has not received the authorization codes for your service, Each card has a unique ID that dish net can address from there satellite.

Why does my dish network say it has been diconnected and do i fix it


There are many reasons it would say this, all of them based on how DISH recognized the combination of your SMART card and receiver number. DISH authorizes the correct combination of your SMART card and receiver so that you cannot just have one or the other and have it work. They may have intentionally disabled your account for non-payment or some other customer service related issue. Your SMART card may be damaged (if removed the screen would read "Please Insert Your Smart Card"). You should contact customer service

If the message on the screen reads, "A cable has been disconnected" it usually means that in the process of trying to find a signal, it could not. The cable between the receiver and the antenna (aka the dish) may have been damaged or cut. The antenna may have been damaged or installed incorrectly. This message is usually only shown when installing a new receiver. If you had an issue and they sent you a replacement receiver, this is more than likely the problem. Make sure that the cable coming from the antenna (usually from the wall or the floor) is plugged into the receivers satellite in, or the triplexer (a silver rectangle with three cables coming out to the receiver) 's in. If the cable is in the right spot (the triplexer's cables that go to the receiver are color coded and marked) and you still have the issue after unplugging and then plugging back in the receiver, the problem was not the initial receiver, and was instead either the continuity of the line to the antenna or the antenna's installation. (Poor or non-existent antenna reception means it was installed wrong or damaged). You would need a technician to solve these problems without more experience yourself.

Does Dish Network VIP722K have a removable smart card


They have smart card slots, but don't use them for standard satellite usage.

If you are still receiving this error message try removing the smart card from the receiver for 10 seconds and re-insert firmly with the color side up and arrows facing inward.

If that doesn't resolve the issue you will likely need a receiver replacement.

How to erase or change smart card code dvr 625


Hi, Mary with Dish Network Customer Service. The smart card in our receivers, is what allows authorization to the programming subscribed to on your account. They all come with built in smart cards and if they have to be updated beyond that, you will need to get a removable smart card. They look like a credit card and slide into the left front door of the receiver box. Your only other option is to exchange the box itself to one that has an updated smart card. If I can be of further assistance, please just let me know.

My dish 811 receiver won't download guide info. Do I need to reset and how?


Pull the smart card out of the unit and turn the unit off. then turn it back on and replace the card. this should reset the unit. It will take a minut or so for the unit to read the card and aquire a sat signal. If this does not work, simply call Dish network and they can walk you through any other options.

Every couple of years we update our smart cards for our receivers for security purposes and enhancements. If a receiver has not been used within that period of time, when you try to connect the receiver you will get that message stating the smart card needs to be updated. You can call 1-800-333-3474 to order a new smart card. I hope this helps.

I'm not really sure exactly what you are saying. By "recharge" are you saying that you restarted your DISH Network service? If so, sometimes depending how long the service has been turned off, the receiver needs to have an authorization sent to it. For this to occur, you will need to call 1-800-333-3474 and speak with Tech Support. You can also perform a hard reset by unplugging the receiver from the electrical outlet for 10 seconds and plugging back in. This will cause the receiver to reboot and re-acquire satellite signal. Can the second card over ride the internal card?


Yes they are able to work with the internal and external smart cards. The internal is not really a card at all and is over ridden by the external device. In order to get the new smartcard to operate you need to follow the instructions that came with it. In some cases you may need to call dish and have them associate the new smartcard with the receiver and have it forced through on their end. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Cannot get new dish to work


You need to call Dish and have them authorize the new receiver. They may send you a new smart card depending on the receiver. Also, if there is an outstanding balance on the one you were given, they likely won't authorize it.
