You are supposed to set that yourself. Read your manual (they have electronic manuals on the dlink website). type "" into your web browser and you can configure your router from there. Just click the wizard button and it will guide you through everything.

There should be a reset button on the back of the router that you press with a paper clip for 10 seconds, and that resets everything to factory default settings.

If needed later Adobe Reader (free) is needed to read manuals
use the following link and click "Get Adobe Reader", if needed

First you may be able to get the key from the configuration of your machine,

Second you can get the key if you can configure the router -- the manual at the end can assist.

Third you can use the manual to reset the router and completely reconfigure it.

the manual is at
select WBR-1310 in quick find the manual link is on the right in the lower box.

    Sebetchiko --

FIrst you need to access your internet service providers help/support site and find the requirements for setting up a router. If your service is provided by cable the default router settings may be right. If your service is provided by a telco you probably have additional requirements. If you need assistance reply to this message, include the name of your service provider at a minimum or a link to his help/support site.

Download the manual and Adobe Reader if needed I will refer to these to configure your router. Let me know which revision of the product you have (determined with pictures and the label on the bottom of the router when you click the link for the manual). See links in prior message.

Without hooking up the router further than the power cord and a ethernet cable between one of the block of 4 lan ports (not the wan port) and a computer attempt the following open up internet explorer or any other browser and enter the following where you would pt ====

You should see a password screen , if not let me know in the response.

First we will configure the Wan side of the router and you should have wired access to the internet.

Next we will get unsecured wireless communications working.

Last we will secure the wireless communications. Your router supports WEP and WPA security for the wireless. You need to tell me in the response if your wireless adapters of computers with built-in wireless support WEP or WAP or both. Or you need to provide manufacturer and model for your wireless adapters and computers with built in wireless so I can determine which they support. We must choose one or the other for the router.

Your router supports B and G band communication we should assure all your wireless adapters do to -- if not they will not work with the router. The previous manufacturer and model information will permit me to determine this too, if you need help.

    Sebetchiko -

Your wireless adapters need to support either B or G not necessarily both.

How can i retreive the security code to add on to my new laptop?

The question is kind of odd.
RETRIEVE meaning you once had it?
Add like security to your lap top?
I think your asking for how to access a router with security?
Reset your router by pressing the reset button.
This will remove the security.
Connect to the router, access its menu, and add security again.

I have installed wbr-1310 to main puter but cannot install on lap

Make sure the wireless capabilities are turned on on your router.
On your computer scan for available networks and it should detect the router.
Once detected it will ask you for the Passkey/WEP/Secutity Key.
You should have a note of this when you originally set up your wireless connection.
If not then your computer network set up wizard may 'kick in' and just follow the instruction.
Remember to keep a note of your PASSKey/WEP as you will require it in future

Good luck
