You will need to re-install the driver. Right click the device in device manager and select properties. Navigate to the driver section and uninstall all existing drivers. (It may *not* give you the option to do that, depending on how corrupted the driver is, but it should.)
Reboot the PC.
Upon reboot, Windows should find the new device and install generic drivers. It will probably ask you to reboot a second time.

I have 12 Drives All 12 Drives are found but when I burn a DVD The Some drivers fail and it is not the same ones all the time

Usually, a driver update is used as a solution to an issue with how Windows works with a piece of hardware.

Updating a driver can also enable new or updated features for the hardware.

To access Device Manager, use any of the following methods:
  • Click Start, click Run, and then type devmgmt.msc.
  • Right-click My Computer, click Manage, and then click Device Manager.
  • Right-click My Computer, click Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
  • Type the following command at a command prompt: start devmgmt.msc

You can use Device Manager to change the way your hardware is configured, and to change the way your hardware interacts with your computer's programs. With Device Manager, you can update device drivers for hardware installed on your computer, modify hardware settings, and troubleshoot problems.

Device Manager enables you to:
  • Determine if the hardware on your computer is working properly.
  • Change hardware configuration settings.
  • Identify the device drivers that are loaded for each device and obtain information about each device driver.
  • Change advanced settings and properties for devices.
  • Install updated device drivers.
  • Disable, enable, and uninstall devices.
  • Reinstall the previous version of a driver.
  • Identify device conflicts and manually configure resource settings.
  • Print a summary of the devices that are installed on your computer.
If the device is experiencing a problem, the type of problem is displayed. You might also see a problem code and number and a suggested solution. If you call a support line, this number can be useful for determining and diagnosing the problem.

How to install a new driver from Device Manager loadTOCNode(2, 'summary');
  1. Double-click the type of device you want to update or change.
  2. Right-click the specific device driver you want to update or change.
  3. Click Update Driver to open the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the wizard instructions.

Rolling back to a previous version of a driver loadTOCNode(2, 'summary'); Use this feature if you encounter problems after you install a driver, such as error messages when you access the device, faulty behavior of the device, or even the inability to start Windows.

Windows XP provides this roll back to a previous, working, device driver:
  1. Right-click the device for which the previous version of the driver is desired and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Drivers tab.
  3. Click Roll Back Driver.
If you cannot resolve the problem with these instructions, contact the manufacturer.

Hello, if looked this error code from Microsoft self, just have a lokk and see if you have tried all of these.

This problem occurs if you install a driver for a non-Plug and Play device, but Windows cannot find the device. Here are some things that you can try to resolve this problem.

If the Troubleshooting Wizard does not resolve the problem, do one of the following:
  • If the device was removed, uninstall the driver, connect the device, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver.
  • If the hardware was not removed, the driver files might be obsolete. In this case, update the driver from Device Manager. In the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to update the driver.
  • If the device is a non-Plug and Play device, you may have to install a newer version of the driver. To install non-Plug and Play devices, use the Add Hardware wizard. Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type hdwwiz.cpl.

If that doesn't work, i tried this program once at a frined of mine with the same problem as you have now and it worked perfectly.
