Need a replacement light switch for my lamp? It has been shorting out since purchased.I just continued playing with the switch to make it work each time, but now it barely works at all.

It would be good to replace it, if you can find a replacement.
Although Home Depot sells replacement switches, you will need to remove yours from the lamp before you could be sure they have a replacement.
Sometimes the difference in cost is 1/2, comparing the UL approval and the non-UL switch.
When it comes to lamps and switches, most of these things are, indeed, made in China.

Clean and cool laptops are happy laptops...

Many laptop hardware system failures can be directly attributed to excessive heat build up on vital internal components on the main board. After a couple years of fairly regular use dirt, hair, and dust will build up on the heat sync gradually cutting off all air flow. (btw you can have a spotless home or office and this is still true) You may hear the CPU fan staying on more frequently and working harder and harder.

Many folks purchase base fans which run on USB... but my philosophy is that if you think you need one, then cooling system probably needs to be serviced. (and drawing more current out of the USB can just add to power demands)

The easiest way for a user to prevent this is to service it starting when it's only a few months old. We want to back flow it with compressed air. Flip your laptop over. Locate the CPU cooling fan and air intake. Using a paper clip lock the fan through the intake so that we don't spin it at a zillion RPM. Using compressed air blow into the fan outlet. Should be at the fan area on the side or back. Remove paper clip making sure fan spins free.

If your laptop is more than a couple years old and you suspect low flow due to restrictive heat sync. You may want to have a qualified technician service it. When servicing laptops more than a couple years old I always disassemble them completely. If clogged severely and you try to back flow it, you can lock the fan up with debris causing fan failure.

Always keep air intake on bottom clear. Do not use directly on bed, carpet, sofa, or any restrictive area (also with contaminates) without a flat hard surface to maintain constant air flow.

May your laptop stay cool and happy for years!

I purchased my home last year and the previous owner didn't leave a manual. I also hear a loud banging sound when the oven heats up and cools down. I need to know the best approach to clean the oven.

your stove is going from room temp soy 65 to 70 degrees up three hundred in a couple of minutes that chance in temp shocks the inside and the metal expands and contracts and that should be the bang you hear my gas stove does the same thing it should have a cleaning cycle it gets so hot inside that it melts away or burns everything but you should be able to get cleaner a walmart or home depot or even lowes you should be able to download manuals on line and that will save you from printing a thousand pages

I have Model No. MCBR360S Mini Refrigerator- It Quit working - The compressor was pretty warm. I keep hearing a Click.

That clicking sound is the compressor trying to start, if it is less than a year old just call magic chef and they will replace the unit, if not the cost of a sealed system repair may make it not worth reairing

ED5SHEXKQ01 is 7 years old. Stopped cooling. Fan is running.

It could be your compressor trying to kick in. Or it could be your defrost system trying to start or stop. The least expensive thing to start is to replace the start kit on the compressor. Call or email us and we'll be sure to get the right part to you asap. You need to turn it off NOW before you burn the other parts up and don't turn it back on until you install new parts.

I have a Magic Chef 3.6 cu. ft. Model#mcbr3605 thats 3 years old and has stopped working. When I plug it in you hear it start then you hear a "click" and it turns off. If you leave it plugged in the compressor gets hot. Can this be fixed or is it trash ? Thanks in advance.

Stopped working

Unplug the ref for a couple of hours ( let the compressor cool off) plug it back in. If it still clicks, replace the relay, if the compressor still won't start then the compressor is bad. Last rights at this point would be appropriate.

Refrigerator will not cool

there is a fault in compressor motor the clicking is the overload cutting off,If its a relay on the motor its worth repairing,If its the whole motor it would be too costly,I know
its not what you want to hear, but thats the size of it.the relay is in a black plastic box on the motor itself,I hope its that
