i format a disk, use it..then i try to record some more at a later point in the day, and it asks me to reformat it again.
also, sometimes we turn the camera on and we go to play recently recorded videos and they are just gone. and they were there earlier.
If you are using a DVD R/W disk then try using disks from a different manufacturer and alo try using a different medium such as DVD-R or DVD+R DL as the camera will not be able to erase any recordings.

The cabinet on our camcorder broke, so I called Sony and they shipped me the piece, but we have no idea how to take the old one off and put the new one on. I called and asked for instructions and they told me that they do not offer instructions. I have to find a local repairman, which I can't find. Great, wish they would have told me before hand. Can you help me with how to take the old cabinet off so we can put the new one on? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

My SONY Camcorder Handycam DVD608-E frequently and suddenly shows this error: Movie Recording Disabled.
Sometimes this is preceded by another message: Door open. Please power off and On again (or similar).
After that there is an eject icon flashing on screen, and nothing can be done or viewed on the disc, as if nothing in the camera.
I took the disc to the PC and tried several softwares from the net (also Nero 9), but in-vain.
The new thing that, it happened also last time, after I finalized the disc. I couldn't read it in the camera, or on my PC (XP). However, it opened freely on my brother's HP laptop running Vista, with windows mediaplayer (any clue?)
