I bought my Tv at Costco and all I did was take it back! without a box and a receipt, but they did check my Costco member card after all was done they gave me store credit. Then I bought a better brand and I really hope it will last me more then TWO YEARS!!!! Good Luck...

Akai LCT2701TD, No picture; just flashing red light.

I have the exact tv and purchased around feb of 2006. In February of 2008 the tv stopped working and after 4 months in a repair shop and finally getting involved by calling and speaking to someone in california, they sent a new power supply and the tv was fixed. Here we are in May of 2009 and the red flashing light is the next problem. I also bought mine in Costco and will try and take it back as well. I most certainly won't buy an AKAI product again.

I had the same problem; the blinking light problem is caused by a bad power supply. It try’s to power up but senses a failure so it shuts down and just keeps repeating this process. I troubleshot the problem and found that zener diode Z3 (27volt 1 watt) was shorted and zener resistor forgot designation (2 surface mount 10 ohm resistors in parallel) were open. The zener is under a heat sink so it is hard to see. Also there were 4 1000uf capacitors that were bulging so I changed them as well. I got the parts from digikey for 20 bucks and its now working fine. This was a lower cost TV at the time of purchase so it seem the manufacture used low quality parts and I would suggest trying to return the TV to Costco before fixing it. Good luck.

Your pwer supply module has problem. Check diode (Z3) and 2 surface mount resistors (R65A and R65B).

BLINKING RED LIGHT AND NO PICTURE OR SOUND

The flashing light indicates a short circuit inside the power supply circuitry. This type of repair is not a DIY without a multimeter, desoldering iron and hand soldering skills. I repair these power supplies, if you need further info write to jah2mil@hotmail.com

Red power light on tv flashing. Unit wont power on or off

(1) check using the tv control or with the remote if it was actually turned on.

(2) if this won't work, the television's tube might have the problem. this needs a replacement. proceed to a certified service provider.

No Picture or operation

The red blinking light indicates a shorted part inside the TV. It normally happens when the power supply is trying to compensate the demand for proper or clean power to the rest of the boards. Most of these power supplies have defective capacitors and shorted zener diode(s) as well open surface mount resistors.
