Question about Toshiba Satellite M45-S355 Notebook

1 Answer

Power trouble My laptop does not power on anymore. I have it plugged in with the power cord and the blue lights don't come on. It seems like their is no current going into the computer. I checked the power cord and it looks in tact. I also check the power inlet and it is not loose, it's intact.

Try another known good AC adapter. You could try a universal AC adapter (targus/Igo or kensington). Call around to see what computer stores in your area will let you try one before you buy it.

If that doesnt solve it then you will have to take it somewhere to be disassembled and repaired.

Aspire 1 laptop won't turn on but the light bulb

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugsinto the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside thejack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have totake the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto themotherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Not powering on

Computers don't power on for one of the following reasons.
1. Bad Power Cord
2. Bad Power Supply that the Power Cord Plugs Into on Desktops but on Laptops it's call the Internal DC Power Jack
3. Bad Motherboard.
If you see no lights at all when you plug in the power cord and press the power switch then it's a problem with one of the 3 above.

Sometimes you can have something as simple as static charge buildup that is causing the computer not to start. Here is how to eliminate the static charge problem. Remove the Power Cord from the computer or Laptop. If you have a laptop also remove the Battery from the laptop. Press and hold the Power Button for about 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, plug the power cord back in (don't plug the battery in if it's a laptop) and see if it boots. If it's a laptop and it boots then you can plug the battery back in so that it can start recharging.

I have harman kardon speakers and I cannot figure how to connect with my computers, both desk top or laptop. There are two speakers with a cable with a light green plub and another plug that has me...

The green plug needs to be plugged in into either a green jack at the back of your computer or into your laptops earphone jack. And if the second cord is a USB cord then plug it into a USB port. If it is a power cord then plug it into a wall socket.

I have an Acer Aspire 5251-1513. I'm not sure, but I think that the fan isn't working. It usually makes some noise, not enough to be bothersome, but enough that I know it's running...yeah. it hasn't been...

Common fault is the little socket where you plug the power supply into goes intermittent, annoying, works sometimes then stops. It's likely you need to get that repaired, the laptop will work with a poor battery but not a poor power lead..
before you go down this road just make sure the little plug on the power lead is not broken inside due to being pulled in and out of the socket thousands of times. Try it on another laptop..!
good luck !

POWER CORD

most notebook adapters i've seen have the light stay on as long as it's supplying power to the notebook. so your p/s maybe defective - my guess is that something's tripping it - are you sure the p/s is suitable for your particular notebook (based on voltage/current/power requirements)?
