My gamecube does not spin the discs that i put into it and does not read them. Is there something i can do to fix this without having to buy a new one?

One time I ccidently touched the lens in my 10 year old gamecube so now the lens and the laser dont read the discs anymore because it is knocked out of anglement so you could buy a new gamecube now or buy a wii because wii's can still play gamecube disc's too.

Will leaving a game cube on pause for a while hurt it????

If you do it for an extended period of time, yes, it will hurt it.

Most newer video game systems, including the GameCube, use lasers to read the discs which hold the games on them. Whenever your system is on and the game is reading, the laser is working. Unfortunately, we are all learning that lasers have limited lifetimes. As a result, leaving your system on pause can cause wear and tear to the laser.

The gamecube has been the most reliable system of its generation. Big reason is that you cannot play DVD movies on it. When you use your Playstation or XBox as a DVD player, it prematurely burns out the laser.

The game disk could not be read.

It sounds like the disc reader is dirty, it's the little clear circle right under where a disc would go, closest to the back of the unit.
To clean, open disc cover, locate the disc reader, use a dry soft towel or some toilet paper and gently wipe it off, sometimes even a little dust can cause a problem. This should do the trick. If it doesn't, then either the disc is scratched or the Game Cube has something wrong with it.
hope this helps!

I bought a gamecube online and it wont spin the disk

Sounds like you need the Gamecube sensor switch replaced. That is a small door device for detecting when the Gamecube DVD door or lid is closed allowing disc initiation to begin. When your Gamecube doesn't detect disk at all and simply continues the message: "Please insert a NINTENDO GAMECUBE DISC," this is the problem. You can test this by inserting a game disc, opening the Gamecube door, and then closing it. If the message "Please insert a NINTENDO GAMECUBE DISC" remains unchanged, and there is no spinning of the disk, then your GameCube lid closed door sensor is probably broken and should be replaced. You can search Google for Part GCPT032, or for GameCube Lid Closed Door Sensor.

An easy fix if you know how to open the Cube. It's cable simply plugs in, and it is held by one tiny screw.

I have 2 nintendo game cube and they out of 20

If each system will read different specific games, then its the systems. You can get them repaired, but they are honestly so cheap now that you would actually be losing money by not just replacing one (pretty sure it still works out alright for two, just not sure).

Disc can not be read

First off invest in a can of dust off and dust it out through the vents. Take isopropal alcohol (from walmart or anywhere) and a Q-Tip and clean the laser beam that shoots at the CD. I have revived many dead PS2 units when everyone else couldn't not get them to work. Works 75% of the time. Was the disc left in the direct sunlight? Sunlight damages the discs. Hopefully that workds for you and will keep your game cube running for a lot longer!

Disc wont read and game won't spin

I Had The Same Problem! And I Have A Solution. Unscrew the top off and look inside.
there is the off and on switch on the opposite side to the right of it are 2 little switches, they have probably been displaced, they must be held back, the problem is they are running the disks around and it they aren't in the back they wont do anything. The Laser Should Be Cleaned using a Q-tip and Peroxide. Don't Use Too Much Just Clean Off The Laser, If That Doesn't Work, Its A Problem Inside The Machine, And is Extremely Hard To Fix, If Thats Your Problem, I Would Just Buy A New One For 99$ Rather Then Paying 80$ For Some Guy To Look At It And Say You Cant Fix It, If He Can Fix It, You Were Lucky, But If I Were You, I Wouldn't Take That Chance, Try What I Said, It Worked For Me, Now My Cube Is As Good As New. XD
I Really Hope This Has Helped You.
