The new bios you flashed is either not compatible with your system or has been incompletely flashed, you need to restore the correct bios for the system, for this you would require a floppy drive, the bios is divided into two regions static and volatile, routines in the static region cannot be changed and supports booting from legacy devices like floppy drive. you need to copy the bios files into the floppy and use this floppy to restore the bios, I have tried this on desktops 4-5 years ago, For this you need to power-on the system with holding some specific keys (the keys differ from system to system)

Bios Faile

bios is always risky update, and toshiba is very well known to stuff up they bios...

first advice, never, ever, update bios from inside of your operating system...

as your computer is already dead, try this method, i cannot recall if you have phoenix or amibios but should work on both:

1. remove power and battery from dead laptop
2. download again bios and unfold it, remember the folder, do not run it!
3. go to this folder and find file with suffix *.rom, rename it to amiboot.rom
4. copy amiboot.rom to usb drive
5. plug usb drive into usb port
6. press and hold fn+b, plug in power cord and press power button
7. if after few seconds you see screen flashing and toshiba logo then returns, you just saved your laptop and few dollars...
8. allow it to boot, switch off, re-insert the battery and use as before.

if this do not work, i am afraid tha tyou need to find some toshiba centre which will flash and re-program bios for your. do not get conned into replacing motherboard! there are non-toshiba repairers which charge between $30 and $100 to flash "dead" bios, toshiba for replacement motherboard want over $300.00

if you find my advice helpful, plese do not hesitate to leave comment and vote 4 fo rme, thanx!

Battery indicator flashing red when running on battery or on main supply and battery is 75% charged

When your battery indicator is flashing Red, it usually means that the charger is defective.

Dell also had a recall on some of its batteries. To see if you qualify for a free replacement click here: http://www.dellbatteryprogram.com/

If you want to reset your battery utility follow these steps:

1. Let the battery run completely dead. (Make sure all your work is saved)

2. Fully charge battery (You may still have flashing lights but if you turn your computer on and enter BIOS you can see the charge level)

3. Once again run battery dead.

4. Remove battery and wait 5-10 minutes.

5. Replace battery and use in normal operation.

If you found this information helpful, please give me a big thumbs up when you rate my answer. Thanks!

Try to turn on computer and the fan blows, but light jiggles and nothing happens. Hard drive shot or processor or ...???

Sounds like the power supply or the motherboard. If you have another computer available, you can test the power supply. Just "borrow" the power supply from the other computer. If it still won't come on, then the motherboard might be bad and you'll need replacement.

If you swap the power supply and the motherboard is bad, you will not hurt the working power supply. The motherboard is already dead and won't feed back to the working power supply.

Also, if you have flashed your BIOS recently and it has not completed successfully, you might have a dead motherboard and you will need to replace it. You would know if you flashed or updated your BIOS chip.

Hope this helps!

My Dell Inspiron 6000 works fine on AC, but will not charge

Hi,
As a first step, Try reseating the battery on the laptop and see if the problem is resolved.
If not working, then try flashing the BIOS on the laptop.
You can find the latest BIOS for your system in the support.dell.com website.
1. GO to support.dell.com
2. Click on "Drivers & Downloads"
3. Either select your System model or enter your the service tag of the computer.
4. Under the "BIOS" section., you will find an option to download the BIOS.
5. Save it to your system., and just double click it, to install.

-> Make sure that the system is not turned off while Updating the BIOS...

Have a nice day

Power goes off when power button is released

More than likely it is a dead motherboard

however....

you can try to reset the BIOS and see if that fixes it. To reset the BIOS, UNPLUG THE POWER CORD FROM YOUR COMPUTER (FAILURE TO DO SO MAY CAUSE A DEADLY SHOCK) open your computer. Discharge and body static by touching the side of the computer. Remove the BIOS/CMOS battery which looks like an oversized watch battery. Leave it our for 1-8 hours. Replace the battery and cloase your case. plug in the power cord and try to turn on teh computer. If this fails then you have a dead motherboard taht you have to replace

Bios flash

This is something that I really would not recommend doing unless you are sure what you are doing as this can seriously harm the computer. The best suggestion is to contact the sony help online and send them your product number and serial number then they know what flash bios you have and can send you a link to the correct download. Through experience when I tried to do a flash bios upgrade my computer went dead until I opened the back and had to shock the dumb thing.

Dead PC

Hi, When flashing a BIOS, you would need a bootable diskette (or CD) with basic DOS and the ROM .bin or BIOS update files plus the flashing software. In the CMOS/BIOS setup, you have to instruct the computer to boot first from the floppy diskdrive (or the CD as the case may be). Then run the flashing software/application and type in the filename of the new BIOS. Most modern motherboards no longer uses jumper switches to allow/disallow BIOS writing/update. If for some reason there are jumper switches, perhaps we can confirm if you would post the brand/model/version of the motherboard/computer. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information. Hope this be of some idea/help. Good luck and kind regards.
