The best person to answer this was the professional who examined it.

Without the same opportunity I can only offer you educated guesses based on experience. The most likely cause is a fractured wire or a break where a flexible conductor meets a component. Unfortunately these are often non-repairable on modern headphones. Less common is that a speaker drive unit fails, but on units like yours the cost of these may also mean that the unit is uneconomic to repair.

Depending upon which country you bought them in, Bose headphones will usually have anywhere between a one and five year manufacturer warranty. If the headphones show no signs externally or internally of unauthorised repair attempts then contact Bose for after-sales support. Like many manufacturers they probably don't attempt to repair problems like these but just replace the item.

Note that if you're in the UK then the Sale of Goods Act means that the seller is liable for up to six years for any faulty products. Although you wouldn't expect a £8 set of earbuds to last six years, you'd certainly reasonably expect a £200 set of Bose 'phones like yours to last a fair proportion of that time limit if used non-professionally and if looked after as per manufacturer's instructions.

BEst to just try to find a repair shop for that sort of thing. Disecting headphones is a risky venture, and 9/10 it results in a frustrated, headphoneless user.

The whole wire that connects the left ear bud along with the ear bud still on it just fell out of the part where the two wires come together. Is there any solution to this problem?

buy new headphones?. i think a lot better than trying to repair it. it sounds like you are talking about where both earbud wires come together at the molded connector part that splices the wires together. unless you are mechanically inclined and electrically astute, you should just replace the

If your headphones are in warranty (under a year old) Bose will repair or more likely replace them with a new pair. I am now on my forth pair or Bose in-ear headphones and experienced the same problem with an ear piece stop working. I have to say Bose customer service has been fantastic and has replaced each pair. Every new pair is then covered by a new full years warranty. Unfortunately my fourth pair has just gone wrong with the same connector problem. Bose again have said they will replace as they are in warranty. I have been told if they are out of warranty they will offer a new pair at a discount price of £50 instead of £80. However i think that if my new pair go wrong out of warranty i will have no option but to look at alternatives.A Pair of headphones that cost £80 should last more than a year!!!

You might have a bad connection on the wiring terminal inside the left speaker where the left and right join the main cable. Here is a link:http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1045725/how_to_solder_how_to_repair_headphones/

The countryman E6 mic caused a loud bang during use.

It appears that the "bang" was the result of a static discharge from the mic boom. I trust it doesn't happen again.

Before you worry about repair, verify that the balance control in the iPod isn't causing the problem. The easy way to do this is to try some other audio device (home stereo, etc).

My left earbuds on my JVC gummy earphones went out.

I have this problem all the time with my JVC earbuds. This may sound a little gross but it will work. I put the ear phone in my mouth and **** on the end of it pretty hard. What I have found is that sweat or even wax will plug the little hole and prevent the sound from coming out.
