Good day sir/maam, hi, the problem may not be your monitor but your PC, they produce the same symptoms if your PC has no video to display. does your monitor led/lamp lights up as turn on your computer? If you want to test your monitor, go bring it to a friend who has a computer, test it there. if it works, your pc has a problem, so try the following first.

  1. Open you PC side cover, locate the memory module, remove the momory by releasing the side clamps. clean the contacts using an eraser (pencil) then put it back, you will clicks as you put it back on, test again. Do it several times if the first try fails.
  2. Check your Power supply, does it gives out hot air exhaust?
  3. Did you hear one beep, (good) or several beeps(bad).
  4. As you power on the pc check your keyboard light, first set of lights (Num lock+Caps Lock+ Scroll lock) then second set of light (Numlock only). At this point your pc is good.
Hope this helps, let me know your progress.

This is a common problem with the monitor's data cable connecting to the computer or the power cable, the data cable many times break internally at the junction of VGA/USB connector, tie the wire in a particular position so that it dos'nt move and display is OK.

Does the monitor display all the three colours RGB ?

The monitor is on but no signal

Hi
This monitor is trying to start but can't. The sound you're hereing is the B+ supply coming on and trying to start the high voltage system. Something down line, either the high voltage transformer or the Horizontal output circuit is faulty. I have repaired thousands of these. Generaly at $100. to $150. depending on parts. You can spend it to my company for repair or take to a local serviceman. If you decide to junk it and but a LCD monitor I would have to agree.

Thanks

My Gateway 500s monitor is stuck in power save mode

Try tapping the F8 key while booting the computer, you will get the start up menu, choose safe mode, when you log on, go to the display settings, that is right click on the desktop, properties, screen saver, advanced and make sure that hibernation is off, along with turn off disks or whatever , probably see turn off monitor after XX minutes, I make ours 15 minutes (150 computers and servers), I don't let the disks turn off. Choose always on also, not home/office. Try this and see if these settings help.

Green light goes on and off

Hi, aside from the blinking green light, does it display something like "No Signal", if it is it might be possible that it's not your monitor that is on the brink, it is possible that your computer isn't turning on and therefore the monitor cannot display anything since there is no video signal from the computer. Perhaps you can try plugging the Philips monitor to another PC that is known to be operational to check if it will display something. If it does then the other PC is not working, if again no display or green light blinks, then the Philips monitor would require service. You might have to have a qualified service personnel to have a look inside and further diagnose the proble. I wouldn't recommend that you try opening the monitor since it's a bit complicated. Hope this be of some use to you and pls post again how things turn up. Kind regards.

CRT Monitor-Compaq presario VM700

Hi Snandy, I absolutely despise monitor and computer sleep or hibernation modes. Before I started routinely disabling this on all the computers I supported my users were always having problems no matter how computer literate they were. I know this sounds simplistic and you may have already done it but have you just unplugged the monitor? If that doesn?t work maybe the PC itself has gone to sleep as well. Try moving the mouse, hitting a keyboard key. If that doesn?t work try pushing the power button on the computer to turn it on. If all else fails pull the power plug on the computer itself, plug back in and it should start up. I would suggest disabling all of this via Windows Power settings in the control panel. Let us know if you have any other questions and again please don?t forget to rate the post.
