SOURCE: KLH Rave-12 speakers - some drivers are not working

If you place an ohm meter across the capacitors, the ohms should slowly drop as the capacitor charges. You can check continuity of the coils with continuity function of the multi tester. is a good source for quality components.

When I Connect the LFE Output of the Amp to the LFE Terminal of SW, the SW does not work, however, if the speaker output of Amp is connected to SW, it works ok.

Register and download the manual for free at

I'm assuming your amp for testing was NOT a subwoofer output. I could be wrong.

Your source is responsible for creating LFE output. Are you sure it's doing that?

Tune an FM station and connect any other active RCA output from the source (like a Tape Out) to the sub

Sony SW no sound

does this sub have an LFE output? if so, connect that to the LFE input on the reciever and make sure it is set up properly in the set up menu in speaker configuration. if the sub has speaker line input outputs, connect speakers to input of sub and out of sub to amp/recvr

Tinny sound from L-310 SW's

This might be helpful. Most stereo receivers have 2 sets of speaker outputs, A and B. Each have outputs for left and right speakers. On the front panel of the receiver, there should be a switch to turn on/off speaker A/B. When using both A and B, (a set of speakers on each A and B) you will lose a bit of volume.

Another possibility is, if the speaker cable length to your covered porch is a long distance from the receiver, you will lose some power from the receiver. Try using a thicker gauge speaker cable for longer cable runs. Try 14 gauge or 16 gauge.

I just installed a Denon 1610 A/V. I used my speakers from a older Sony 5.1 channel home theater system (DAV-S300). I got all the speakers to work except for the subwoffer. In order to hook-up the SW, I...

If you go to Manual setup/ select speaker setup/ select bass setting/ does it show LFE? If it does it is sending to main speakers only and you'll need to change to LFE+Main.

Always turns to standby

Hi, I was able to take care of this issue by talking to Onkyo tech support. They diagnosed over the phone and concluded that the receiver set the volume for the sub way too low (-12), therefore sub was not receiving the input and was doing what it was supposed to be doing. They walked me through manually increasing the volume and now everything works great.  Good luck! I hope this helps.

Sw 300 powered sub woofer

It sounds like your subwoofer acts as a receiver in its own right. Many low-budget home theater systems act this way, and it may in fact have a Dolby Pro Logic II encoder in it. Your best bet is to hook up either the speakers it came with, or purchase speakers from your local audio visual store. Check its power rating per speaker (in watts) in your manual, and purchase speakers that are rated for it.

The "red and white" input you mention are RCA connectors, and should allow you to connect a source to your system. If you have any more specific questions, please post them here.
