Question about Crosley CDG6000 Gas Dryer

1 Answer

My crosley gas dryer is 10 yrs old. It tries to start, I can hear the buzz. Sometimes it takes hours of tries to get it to ''catch'' and turn on. I recently changed the belt and the (?)blower wheel. Any suggestions?

When it starts does it work
if once you get it started it seems to work fine
well then you have astart winding on the motor goin bad. or done.....
try this... empty the machine
tape the door switch closed
push start and try to spin the tumbler
if it starts right up you have confirmed it
your motor is done

Kenmore gas dryer will not start after drying a couple of loads, but will restart after letting it sit for about an hour.

sounds like the motor is overheating and probably needs to be changed out.when was the last time you cleaned out the dryer and how old is it?the dryer should be taken apart and cleaned out once a year if it's gas and once every two years if it's electric.there's an open flame in a gas dryer and i've seen the lint catch fire in some of should clean out the outside vent,if the vent line is a long run from the back of the dryer to the outside vent i use a leaf blower to blow out the line, clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and with a shop vac i blow out the motor and vac out the cabinet where the motor is and blow out the gas tube, the lint builds up on the dryer motor, overheats it and all the oil in the motor dries up,you can see it on the back of the drum and around the motor, you'll see lint stuck onto the back of the drum stuck in the oil and like a yellow stain on the frame and wall where the motor is and the motor starts overheating and cuts out when it gets hot, when it cools it will start again but one of these times it wont start at all.sometime you'll hear a loud buzz when you try to start it.the motor is easy to change, you need to decide if you want to put money into the dryer or change it out, good luck

The dryer will buzz and you can hear the timer ticking however the dryer does not start

It's likely either:

a faulty start button / related circuitry, or

the centrifugal start switch on the motor: burned contacts, broken spring, stuck from dust / lint

My dryer makes a buzzing noise and will not turn on. I have to reach in and turn the drum, retry-go through this process several times before it "catches"and turns on iam wondering if it is the belt

Most likely it is the start winding on the motor. The buzz you are hearing is the thermal overload. You would have to replace the motor. Check pricing against a new machin. Sometimes the parts are less cost effective than a new dryer.

Have AMANA dryer ALE230RAW. Hear buzz when start

I also have this problem, but it is after the dryer has been running. When the motor is hot, it buzzes and will not run. Sometimes it will run if I turn the drum or take some clothes out. I disassembled the dryer and cleaned the motor of lint. This helped but not completely solved the issue. I have completely removed the motor and will thoroughly clean the motor (stator and brushes) and will try again.

Turns off after a few minutes

sounds like your motor is overheating or going bad. sometimes lint built up around the motor can cause it to overheat. or the motor is dying.

You said, When you turn the knob a buzzing sound starts but that's it. The Buzzing continues as long as the start button is turned. Dryer is only 2 years old. Any help is very appreciated.
