I had the same problem... You probably have some corrupt game data on there. I backed up my saves and wiped my ps3, seemed to do the job.

If you did not know this, I will tell you know. You have to go the designated area of what you put in. Let's say you put in a game, go to the "games" section and go to where the icon of the "Blue Disc" where it has the name of the game by it, click on it and it will start. Same for movies.

It may be set to NOT AUTO LOAD games or discs. Check your game settings in the "Settings" menu on the XMB at start up.

I put a game in and nothing happens

Sometimes when a lens gos out on a video game system the system will not load the game or display anything on the screen. It's not uncommon for this to happen even in the first year of the systems lifespan. One thing you can try is cleaning the lens on your system. Staples and Best Buy sell Discs that can go into the unit and clean the lens, however make sure it is specifically designed for Blu-Ray.

Hope that helps!

I downloaded the update for it and put it in but nothing happens

Unfortunately not all of the old xbox games are compatible with the xbox 360. Not all of my old games work either. Here is a list from the official site about games which are backwards compatible.

Playstation works fine but nothing happens when I put in a game or a dvd. It just stays at the menu.

Playstation 3. When I put in a game or dvd it wont autoplay. I checked the autoplay and it said it was on and I went to "game" to start it manually but it wouldnt give me that option
