Just been given a 19 inch Wharfedale TV/DVD. Plugged in my roof aerial, and power, but TV says "no signal 14". DVD seems OK.

Do you know whether this is a new problem or one which the previous owner had? (perhaps that's why it was a freebie?) What's the exact model number of your tv/dvd combo?

OK, as the answer is important in determining where the problem lies I'll wait until your attempts to determine the history of this fault have been completed.

My digital tv wharfedale L19T11W-C, connected to an indoor TV aerial has no signal.

Check and replace its tuner. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

No dvb signal on Vierra Panasonic tv

If the tvs share the aerial but only one is working then the wiring of the non functioning socket has shorted. Perhaps the cable you used to connect the second set is damaged, try another. PERHAPS THE AERIAL SOCKET HAS BECOME DAMAGED,THIS ONLY COSTS A FEW PONDS/DOLLARS TO CHANGE. Alternatively it might be the wiring from the roof to the wall socket that is faulty.
First things first, check that the tv is working by connecting it in the other room. If it does work there you will know that theaerial socket in the second room is faulty and can begin testing.

Hello there,

Try and narrow down the problem yourself like .

Did it work ok at the precious persons house.

Is your aerial different from theirs ?

Did your aerial ever work on antheer tv.

Does it work with another Video input eg DVD palyer ?

Are you following the instructions for auto search Correctly.?

Is the aerial connector AND cable ok ? (unscrew the co-ax plug that goes in the back of the TV and check co ax) Coax is notorious for bad connectors. They need to be terminated correctly or no puicture no matter what.

The bottom line with aerials is height height height and direction. for good pictures.

Luxor 19 inch dvd and usb working fine just not catching any signal for the past two weeks

If unplugging set for a while does not help either a setting in menu is wrong now or set needs to go to shop for estimate.

Does a DVD etc work via the audio/video type inputs on the set?

Find channels

You say you`ve plugged the outside aerial lead directly into the DVD recorder aerial input socket, you connected an aerial link lead from the aerial output socket on the DVD recorder and you`ve got a Scart lead from the TV output socket on the rear of the DVD recorder into the AV1 socket on the TV. I`m saying all this because in the past, I`ve had customers say this to me only to find when I call round that they`ve plugged the aerial into phono sockets instead of the earial input socket. The aerial lead will fit physically but not electrically. Have you got a good picture on your TV with the DVD recorder switched to standby?? If yes, Does it play a DVD perfectly through the TV?? If yes, then everything is connected up correctly, When you press the virgin menu button to your DVD, it should show setup/install?? When you do get to the free-view or channel setup/install menu, and you tell it to search for new channels, does it scan?? Does a bar or do the numbers rise and the % number rise as it finds new channels?? If they do and everything is connected and working as I described earlier but still no channels are found, Try unplugging from the mains and reboot your DVD recorder, then repeat the whole menu install procedure sequence again. Other than that, there`s nothing else you can do, Basically, you`ve got a faulty machine where it requires an engineers eye I`m afraid. Ian

No picture sound only

your lcd tv is most likely not getting enough reception for the visual signal, try switching your tv back to analog signal (not digital) if you can by switching off av on remote, do you get your picture back, if yes thats your problem check your aerial, aerial leads and plugs, also do you have an aerial amplifier plugged into a power point, is it turned on to aplify signal.

HAVE AN AERIAL CNNECTED TO MY TV BUT WHEN I DO A TUNE IT SAYS THERE IS NOT SIGNAL? ANY IDEAS. IT IS A WHARFEDALE WITH BUILT IN FREEVIEW

If you know your aerial is ok check if you can receive any analogue channels if not, is the tv going in to search but not finding anything. If it is a LCD tv I have had problems with the prescaler chip but be aware there are two versions of chassis with different prescaler boards.
