Maybe slightly different on EX78, but on a E55 the time setting is done from the set-up menus.

These are found by pressing the Functions button on the remote control.

There is the option for "automatic" time adjustment. This uses the time data from Teletext if you have the unit connected to a suitable aerial/satelite/cable.

NB. if your unit only has an analogue tuner, i.e. it doesnt have it's own built in Freeview decoder, when the analogue service is withdrawn in the UK auto time update will cease to function.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Is there a code to make this player multiregional

Sadly, no: you need to buy a chipped remote. You can find these on eBay for around £12 Sterling. Look for the multishot devices (eight uses) rather than single shot, as they can work out a lot cheaper if you (and friends/family) have more than one unit to unlock. Some dealers will even offer a £5 rebate on return of the remote if you do not wish to keep it as a spare.

If you're still having problems, let me know and I can sell you my half-used remote!

Note that doing this without express authority from Panasonic will render your warranty void!

I have a Panasonic DMREX78 DVD Recorder..I was trying to copy something from the hard drive to a disc and it froze...I can turn it off and back on and it sounds like its trying to eject but nothing...

sorry, no solution from me, but you are not alone! I have a similar problem with my DMR-EX78. I tried to copy a HD recording to DVD in Dec, it failed and ever since I haven't been able to play DVDs or CDs (comes up with 'cannot read - check DVD/CD' and the red circle with a red line through it symbol appears in top right corner. A 'D' sign has appeared on the display and the unit now takes a lot longer (one minute) to start up (power mode is set to same as was before). Will be interested to see what solutions are put forward for your issue.
