Samsung 52 inch LNT5265F has clicking sounds when I turn TV on. It takes about 5 minutes for TV to finally turn on. When it does turn on, it has various spots on the screen. I have to turn it off and...

This sounds similar to a known problem with bad capacitors in some Samsung TVs. Even though the TV is out of warranty, Samsung extend the repair period for affected TVs. Get your TV model and serial number off the back and then call Samsung at: 1-800-Samsung (1-800-726-7864).

Explain the problem and let them know that you have heard about similar problems and heard they were being repaired out of warranty. In my case, they sent a tech out and did the repair for free.

If for some reason they will not do it, the repair is quite simple for someone who can solder and you can find details here:

When turning Samsung LNT5285F it takes about 5 minutes to turn on and it turns on with dead pixles and have to turn it off and turn back on in order to fix it - what could be causing this problem?

You have 2, possibly 4 capacitors in the power supply that are bulged (bad) that need replaced. If you've ever done soldering or changed components like that then you will be able save a repair bill.crikett.jpg See the dome at the top of the caps bulging.

Self- reboots at start-up, then shows picture but with pink dots.

It sounds like you have a Power Supply Board problem. The PSB is the center Board (towards left) after you remove the back off the TV. Remove Board from TV with the 6-7 screws. Replace capacitors CM811, CM812, CM817 & CS806; 1000ufd 25volts. It is the board to the left and you notice that the four cap tops are swollen.
It is easy to replace get a stanard solder pencil and you are in business.

Thanks for using FIXA, BIG IRISH.

This TV constantly shuts itself off.

The issue has been resolved. I removed the back of the TV (pretty easy actually) by laying a blanket over the kitchen table and placing the TV face down. I started with the power supply as an obvious beginning. Both fuses on the board tested fine. And touched up every solder joint with a hot soldering iron in case the problem was a cold solder joint. After this painstaking venture, I performed another visual inspection and noticed a capacitor that had a thin black X on the top of the can. This is a common sign the capacitor has over heated. I located a replacement for $1.20, installed, and successfully powered up the TV. I have had no problems since.
Oh, yeah, I also paid $120 for a BN44-00150A replacement power supply, plus overnight shipping. It actually arrived three weeks later. That was two weeks and six days after I fixed the power supply myself.
