I need help finding my password so I can open my account

Your Facebook account is linked to an email address not a phone number. Go to the facebook site and sign in using your email address and password

1. Open your Facebook "Settings"-you get there by going to the top right and clicking the upside down pyramid and then selecting Settings from the new drop down list of settings.
2.Select Email from the list of options that appear under the General Account Settings and select "edit".
3.Click "Add another email address" and put the new email address that you want to use.
4. You will need to add your Facebook Password to save the new Email address, type it in the area below and click the "Save Changes button. Click OK on the new confirm window that appears.
5.Go to the e-mail address that you just added and Verify the email that Facebook will send to your email account.
6.Go back to your Facebook "Settings/Email" and select the new Email address that you just added as the primary email for your Facebook account. You will need to supply your Facebook Password again and click "Save Changes" again.
7.Go back to your Facebook "Settings/Email" again and find the old email account that you no longer want/use and select the "Remove" beside it and click it. You will need to supply your Facebook Password again and click "Save Changes" again.
8.Go back to your Facebook "Settings/Email" and you will see that the only Email address is the new one that you added in step #3.

You can reset your password with the email you used for that account. Try going through Facebook's diagnostics for getting acces back to your account and follow their steps.

I'm trying to reset my Facebook password. Why am I being asked to enter my email address and email password?
We need to make sure that this Facebook account belongs to you before we let you reset the password. Facebook, like any other sign-in type site has a procedure for lost passwords. Facebook in it self, updated so you have 3 ways how to recover your lost password:

1. Email or phone number (if you recently added your phone number)
2. Your Facebook username
3. Your Name and a Friend's name

I recommend option 1. So, this is how you do it:

1. Go to Facebook.com, remember you have to be logged-of for this.
2. Right bellow the Password box you have a link saying "Forgot your Password?". Click it
3. Now you have the three options, on the first one insert the e-mail associated with your Facebook account. Click Search.
4. Now Facebook will try and identify your account, it will show you an user account, or several, find yours (if you inserted your e-mail it will probably show only your account).
5. Check the option box with your e-mail and click "Reset Password"
6. An e-mail will be sent to your e-mail account with the new password or further steps to set a new one.

Clear your cache and delete all of your cookies in your browser. In your browser, type in the address bar http://www.facebook.com/login (which doesnt exist).This will take you to a different login page which reads: "The page you requested was not found."
At the top of this page is a login box. Try using this login box to login to facebook. If you are using the Adblock extension with Firefox, and subscribe to an ad list (basically a list of known ads online), it blocks a special site (fbcdn.net) that Facebook uses to login. Go to: http://www.facebook.com/login.php (the page you are having trouble logging in) and click on the Adblock Stop Sign on top of Firefox, and you will see in red a url that includes fbcdn.net. Right click on that, and add an exception for the entire fbcdn.net domain. Reload the page. This should fix the problem.
You can also use a Proxy Server to connect to Facebook.com. Search Proxy in GOOGLE,select Proxy Server and type in facebook.com (in the proxy server webpage).Finally now you can login into your facebook account.
