The quickest fix would be to reset the router. There is a little button the size of a pin located in the back of the router. Get a small paperclip and press it in for 15 seconds. Release and reconnect the router. The information will need to be setup as this erases all information (passwords, etc) from the router. In order to have a flawless reset, visit neatgear.com and download the software needed to reinstall easily.

Another fix (not as quick) would be to type in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Enter the username and main router password. Click on wireless security and change the password. You need the router username and password for this fix.

The password and username for the router are the ones you created when you set up the router. You may have also changed the default password (to 192.168.1.1) while setting the router up so the default may not work. Two seperate passwords.

Hi,

For Netgear, enter http://www.routerlogin.net in the address box of the IE browser and admin as Name and password as Password. Then see Wireless tab and find security info, or change.

If the above fails, you could reset the Netgear router by using a staple on the small hole at the back for 20 seconds. If you take that step, you will have to match settings for all wireless units.

Usually default password is password.

To exactly know, how you need to set router, follow the below link :-

Let me know, if you need further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Anyway, yes you need to put the same. If that not work, Reset and then again trying to login onto router. Follow the link, in case if you want to set the router settings.

    Hope i helped you.

Had my netgear router for months now and not had a

Solution to intermittent wireless connection is change the wireless channel of the router. Usually the default channel is 6 which is prone to interference. You may try channels 11 and 1. They are the next strongest channel of the router. Try to reset the router first.

Internet conection via linksys gateway through netgear router

Not totally for sure but i am myself running linksys. if its a new pc you must first configure your settings in order to hook up it up. on ur pc you should have networks first try running a land line to it and see if you can connect if you have multiple routers its very easy to make a mistake with the wiring.

Netgear Wireless Router Problems

Use the process of elmination, disconnect Vontage, does the problem go away? If no then look at the modem (cable or dsl).
Hint! If you have a cable modem, make sure all cable connections are tight from the outside of the house, to every TV, and from the wall to the cable modem. Use plyers to tighten all of them.

How to find my key code to hook up laptop

Go to a machine that is on the network and login to your router. www.routerlogin.com comes to mind. The default username and password is admin and password. If you've changed the password away from it, you'll have to use that password instead.

Once you get there, you should open up the Netgear Smart Wizard with blue tabs down the side. The second category is Wirelss Settings. When you click on that, it displays a network name (SSID), a security type, and a wirless key that you have set.

For example, mine is set to WEP 64bit Automatic and I have a simple 1011121314 key in key 1.
My house is also 1 of 4 in a cul-de-sac :-)

New Router and Laptop no wirless connection after 4 hrs .

There are a couple of ways to go on this one..first plug into the router with a netwrok cable, NOT via wireless.

If you have just opened the box on the netgear router you would need to configure some basic settings such as the SSID (name of the router) the country the router is in and maybe some type of security settings...often this cannot be done via a wireless connection at first, you must connect your laptop's netowrk port to a touter port on the rear of the Netgear. Open I.E. and navigate to something like http://192.168.0.1 (look on the sticker on the botton of the Netgear) setup the basics then try your wireless link using the settings you programmed.

My 3 different mac laptops with airport can't connect to my wirless

Sounds like you might be accidentally connecting to a neighbour's network instead of your own. You need to go into your wireless settings on each laptop and tell them to connect to your own network.

Wirless Router

If you're able to print from main PC ,then run printer configuration disk (which you've used to configure printer on main PC) on your Laptop , Provide static IP address to printer & laptop, within same domain(like you can use class c IP address 192.168.1.x (x=2 - 251) & subnet ask 255.255.255.0 ,MAKE SURE THAT IP ADDRESS SHOULD BE DIFFERENT FROM YOUR MAIN PC ELSE THEY'LL RESULT INTO CLASH) .After that try to make a test print. If it doesn't work then check whether ports you're suing for printing are open in your Firewall inside laptop (If there is Firewall), Also win XP sp-2 Home adition has built in Firewall try to print after disabling it.

Change router locaation

do factory reset of configuration settings then log in with the routers default credentials. then change settings to your liking with one exception: DO NOT USE WEP!!!!! At a minimum use WPA 1 personal (with MAC filtering if you know how.) WEP can be hacked in less than 5 minutes.
