Ok, you have just removed and resealed the CPU, fan and heat sink.
The best way to fix this problem is to go over the whole thing from the start.
Disconnect your battery and remove the memory.
Disconnect the CPU fan and look at the plug contacts. Make sure the plug is facing the wright direction and not forced on the board.
Next, remove the CMOS battery or disconnect it.
Next, remove the CPU and ex-ame the pins. Note.... If just one pin is folded over and not making contact with the board, you can fry the chip and or damage the board.
Holding the chip eye level and looking down the rows of pins, will show you any bent pins.
Assuming the CPU is in good shape, re-insert it and plug in the fan connections.. Note.... In some cases, if the board does not see the fan connection, it will not power up.
Re-connect the CMOS battery or install battery.
Re-install you memory and hard drive.
Power up the unit.
Keep in mind you will have to reset your date and time, when unit restarts.
I hope this was just a simple connection problem and nothing else.
I hope this has helped you in your repair.
Take your time, sounds like you know what you are doing.
Good luck.

Sounds like you have a major breakdown with your laptop. Do you always leave it on and expect it to go into hibernation or something to that effect? I had a client who would leave his laptop on all the time, one weekend he left it on and had it place on an overstuffed sofa's arm, only to come home from a weekend out of town to find his laptop fried. He restricted the airflow to the point that it melted the labels off the bottom of his laptop and nearly caused a fire.
My point is if you were in the habit of never turning your laptop off and perhaps had it is a place where airflow was restriced, you have burned up components tot he point of you need a new motherboard at the very least and probaly would be beter of fwith buying anew laptop.

My acer travemate 7720 keeps powering off without any warning

To me that sounds like it is getting hot somehow, like the heat sink is blocked with lint. The fan might be burnt out...Next time listen for the fan to come on...and find the vents where hot air should be comming out..and see if that is happening...If the fan is comming on and it is blocked up(from the inside) it still will overheat, meaning you would have to disasble the laptop to remove the lint from the heatsink.

Acer aspire 5517 powers up sometimes and not others. Randomly shuts down.

Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

My acer 5720 laptop gets v hot and shuts down i sit it on a coolin pad already. what could the problem b it seems 2 hapen more often when the power cable is in use and only rarely when the batery is in use

This is a common problem in the acer line, remove bottom and clean all the open ports and fins on the heat sink and fan. Next remove the heat sink and clean the old conductive paste off, including the processor ic with rubbing alcohol, now! apply fresh conductive thermal paste to the heat sink and ic, this will increase the heat dissipation by 50%, and check to make sure the fan is running properly, "high failure rate" this should solve your shutdown problem.

My friend has the same laptop viz Acer 5738G, but it does not get heated as much as mine? How do I know if my fan is working or not? I do not feel the blast of air coming out from the vents.

The fan and heat sink assembly may be partly blocked with dust. Remove the cust and blow away the fine particles with a can of compressed air.

Toshiba 2435 s255 notebook shutsdown and fan runs on high speed

Overheating problem is caused by faulty fan and or the fan and heat-sink assembly is clogged with dust.
When the CPU overheats, it goes into thermal shutdown and won't boot up again until the CPU has cooled down. If this problem is not fixed, eventually the CPU will fail completely. The fan must spin freely, if not replace the faulty fan.
Check the fan and heat-sink and loosen and vacuum/remove the dust from the fan and heat-sink assembly. Depending upon the model of your Toshiba, the fan can be accessed from the bottom of the laptop or you may need to remove the keyboard to get at the fan and heat-sink.

Acer laptop gets very hot inside fan is running but still hot ?

Your heat sink vents may be jammed up with fluff and other debris.

If you're not comfortable removing the bottom pannel and using some canned air to clean out the heat sink fins, I would take it into a repair depot and have the techs there apply a new application of heat sink compound and clean it out for you.

ACER ASPIRE 3000 gets power off after some time automatically

If the laptop shuts down by itself and deosn't boot up again after some time, then the problem could be an over heating problem. The CPU shuts down when it overheats (thermal shutdown) and it is usually caused by a faulty fan and or the fan and heat-sink is clogged with dust.
Check the fan and if it does not spin freely then replace the fan and or remove the dust from the fan and heat-sink assembly.

My packard bell easynote laptop gets quite hot, when the fan kicks in it's blowing hot, and i cannot leave it on my lap for too long, when the fan stops the laptop still feels hot, are there any settings...

if you have the skills to do it you'll need to access the fan(s) and clean out all the dust and dirt that has collected in them. I acquired a compal notebook that kept shutting down because of heat. visually it looked fine in the fan area. it wasn't till i removed the fan covers that i found about a half inch of dust and cat hair next to the heat sink... once that was removed it barely heats up.
I have noticed that some laptop fans don't come on till close to meltdown. My dell laptop was like that. sometimes the only solution is to get a laptop cooler pad to sit the laptop on.
