First, check that your Scanning driver is installed. Click on Start, then Printers and Faxes, and you should see a Scanner in the list of available printers. If you don't see it, then you need to install the driver from the CD that came with your printer, or find a driver online.

Next, you should have a Navigator program which is installed when you install your printer software and drivers. If you have an icon on your desktop, click on it and your Navigator should open. Simply follow instructions from there.
If you don't have an icon on your desktop, click on Start, then Programs and then find Canon in your programs list. You should be able to open your Navigator from there.

I need to scan a picture and I can't figure it out I have a MAC :)

Hi
There are 3 possible routes. 1 use the scan button on the printer. It should initiate a scan and then send it to the computer - where you will have to find it. 2. Assuming you used the Canon CD that came with this printer, then there should be (either in your dock or in the applications folder) something with a name like Canon toolBox - in fact look for anything with toolbox in its name. Scan settings are normally found there. 3. Look in your applications folder and fins an app called 'Image Capture' - all macs have it. Lauch it and see if it brings up a scan window. If the scanner software is properly installed then scan software will work. However, telling you what to do next is beyond this servi ce.

My cannon mx310 wont scan photos

If you have the original CD that came with the printer, install it since the program will have the printer drivers. You didn't mention what operating system you have- I found some scanner drivers by googling "mx310 scanner drivers", and there are some out there- one site that had a free download was for a mac OS, but there are others for Windows. I have a Canon, and the way it scans is that you push scan on the printer, and it brings up the Canon Imaging Studio to receive the scan. I've never tried it without the program, but the net has drivers so I'm guessing they work, however I don't know.
You might be able to get a copy of a Canon CD from Best Buy- I know they keep copies to help people reload programs when they lose their CD.
Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

The MX310 is not a wireless printer. You must use a USB cable from the computer to the printer to print.

I need help. First, I am a bit computer challenged. I have a Canon MX310 printer that is online with a dell desktop. I have a MAC book that I would like to print from, but I don't know how to initiate...

you are interconnected via ethernet based or wireless network???

(yes) - 'share' the printer and it will be acessible by all devices on your network. Your printer will have to be connected to a PC even if it is network ready for the Mac to use it, I believe.

To 'share' your printer, right click on the printer and select 'share'. It is a simple process.

If you need more help, let me know

I hope this helps you.

Scan function won't work with Mac OS10.5.5 & Airport

I plugged the printer cable directly to my laptop instead of trying to scan using the airport wireless router. Plugging it in did the trick.
Thank you,

If you mean you connected it to the airport, that only supporting printing, not scanning. Have to plug it into the computer.

Can't print to mac wirelessly (could do it a few days ago)

I had the same problem until recently. You have to install the drivers FROM THE CD that came with the printer, instead of selecting the drivers from the default list. Then, when selecting which printer driver to use (you'll have two options) choose Canon IJ and NOT Canon MX310 series. This is a problem with their MX310 driver, which is solved using a default/generic Canon InkJet (hence, the IJ) driver. Hope this helps!
P.S. This only works on Mac OS X. I have yet to figure out how to print wirelessly through Vista. Will keep you posted.
