Just connected my LG Flatron 1720p monitor and have an error message that says ''analog out of range 68.5 khz / 85 hz'' in a blue box in the middle of the otherwise black screen. What do I do to fix this? Please help. Thanks.

My LG 22" flatron is with a G4 silver PowerMac and has been successful for about 3 years until yesterday when it showed message ANALOG Out of Range 111.4 kHz / 100 Hz Although there is a button that says...

this is common on all systems with monitors.
here is a fact for you,
not all PC/mac, etc, support all video modes.
nor do the monitors.
I boycott apple but it really is not any different that PC,
infact becomes more like one every day..(history)

the PC solution is to go into safe mode.
on the back of all my LCDs is a post it note, stating
the sweat spot. for horz x vertical, and refresh
the manual off all LCD states this sweet spot.
my sticker says 1920x1080 x 60 hz.
all monitors use 60hz refresh so start there.
do no use my above resolution, USE YOURS.

there you go , now all you need to do is find MAC safe mode.
and set the resolution back. to normal.
and can be very hard to do, when the screen is blank.!!

the monitor does not set the reso, the system does.
the monitor is telling you the system is sending ILLEGAL
signals. that is a fact.
im sure someone that used apple-sauce will answer.
or google it. (this will work, 100% sure)

I Have flatron w1934s monitor .. from 1 week it displays a message 'out of range 68.5 khz / 85 hz' and i have to restart the computer to continue .. can u teel me how to fix this problem ?

most likely you are going to need to contact the manufacture and have it replaced if its only one week old it should be on warranty I believe it to be a problem with the monitor not the pc however if that were not to fix it then i would suggest replacing your video card or atleast reinstalling the video drivers

Out of range 64.0 kHz / 60 Hz

Unfortunately if you cannot get the resolution down, you cannot use it.

I have upto now been using my LG Flatron L1919S monitor as a tv with a separate tuner. today i replaced it with an LCD tv and was going to use the monitor for my computer. however when i connected it up...

It means your PC video output resolution is too high for the LG monitor to display (your old monitor (CRT) can handle higher resolution than this LG LCD monitor), you need to set the PC video resolution to native resolutionof this monitor which is 1280 x 1024 @60Hz. You may have to use the old monitor (CRT) to set the resolution to 1280 x 1024@60Hz, then hook up the LCD monitor.

I get error message: Out of Range, on my 17 inch LCD KDS monitor

get the monitor that you used previously, and on the Windows desktop, go to display properties, in settings> advanced, under the monitor tab, change the refresh rate to 60, which is common on these flat panels.

Monitor problems

Try setting your resolution lower via the control panel; it appears the resolution picked by Windows is beyond the monitor's capabilities.

Red Dot and OUT OF RANGE problem

You might be able to take back the monitor since you just bought it, but manufacturers generally have a specified number of bad pixels for which they deem the panel to be functioning acceptably and they will only replace it if the number of bad pixels exceeds that limit.

Redhat 9 is rather old and I don't remember if this will work, but just in case get to a prompt and type 'setup' as root. If it is there you will have several choices of what to set up. Choose X configuration. If your monitor is not in the list, select one of the generic LCD monitors that match the native resolution of your monitor.
You could also tweak /etc/X11/xorg.conf to a resolution that will work but I doubt you want to tackle that.
