Question about Lexmark X2690 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I'm trying to find replacement ink cartridges for my Lexmark X2690, per the service center and it tells me I need (for the Black) #4, or #4A, and (for the Color) #5, or #5A and also #31 for photo color. My problem is that I went to the local Wal-store and can not find these items. Also went to a few other local stores with same luck. Can you tell me if there is another set of cartridge numbers that I can use in place of the above listed? Or am I just pretty much S.O.L. ??

Sorry...No other numbers. Have you tried Staples? They have free shipping over $50. I have had pretty good service through them.

See:

If that link is not good, I will post another.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Why was my printer showing my print level to be 3/4 the way full for both the black & color, & then I went to print again and there are ? marks on my ink levels, & a error that says cartridge problem?

printers are calibrated to only measure ink levels for original cartridges ( Lexmark)
if you refill or use generic cartridges the machine will not read the levels and will send a ink level warning or will not print because it thinks the ink is out and will not work to protect the printer

I ran out of both black and color ink. I replaced the black ink b/c I do not print in color. But I cannot complete the alignment steps without the color ink.

Lexmark printers usually require both cartridges to have ink left in them to continue printing. But try to press the Cancel button for the Alignment process (this is not recommended). Then try to print a document again to verify that you are able to continue printing without an empty color ink.
If that doesn't help, I would suggest you replace your color cartridge with a new genuine Lexmark cartridge.

NOT PRINTING COLOR (INK LEVEL GOOD) PRINTS ON BLK/WHITE MODE

Your color cartridge may need some cleaning. If you're using Windows, go to Start menu > Prorgrams/All Programs > Lexmark 2600 Series > Solution Center. Go to Maintenance tab and select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them.
If problem continues, try to insert a different known working color cartridge to determine if it's a faulty cartridge issue.

Hello, I just bought a new #4 black ink cartridge for my lexmark x2690 printer, and it will not print anything the pages are blank. It shows that the cartridge is full so i have no idea?

Good day! I am tempted to ask you to check the cartridge and make sure the protective cover is removed, some are a small piece of tape covering the ink outlets. If the cover is clear, take a cotton ball and dab a SMALL amount of alcohol on it and wipe the cartridge ink ports, this will stimulate the flow and you should be back in business..... please let me know if you need any more help, glad to be here for ya.... We have an ink refill from Cartridge World for an unused Lexmark X2690. Even though the ink cartridge is full, the computer tells us it is empty. It will not even send paper through the printer to...

I own a Cartridge World store and I tell our customers when they purchase this refill that I cannot test the electronics on the cartridge to ensure that it will work. I tell them if they take it home and it doesn't work I will give them a full refund. You need to go back to the store your purchased this cartridge from and request your money back. Unfortunately you have purchased a printer that takes cartridges that our test printer cannot test the electronics or print test.

Ink level reset button for Lexmark X2690

There really isn't. Lexmark's 'official answer' that I have seen is this:

Genuine Lexmark inks and cartridges are perfectly matched to the printing system to ensure that every document produced is of the highest possible print quality, providing long-term dependable service from your Lexmark printer. Using incompatible inks in an attempt to extend the life of a genuine Lexmark cartridge beyond its recommended usage can cause failures in several different areas of the printer. Any such damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges will not be covered by your Lexmark printer Warranty, Extended Warranty or Service Agreement.

If the error message stopped you from using the refilled cartridges, you shouldn't have damaged the unit in any way.
