Hi,

Make sure to check or defeat the micro-switch for the filter cover, and for the lamp, these can also cause red lights..

Here is the Honest truth...

From what you are describing, I would say that you are encountering the "famous" problems of the mitsubishi v26 chassis based tv's - Mitsubishi has used this chassis in almost ALL of the DLP tv's they made, and they are loaded with problems..In my opinion they are complete lemons.

There are almost 50 capacitors in this set on the DM board, Format board, power supply and the terminal boards that were cheaply made, and go out of specs making this tv do many different "strange" things until the capacitors on the DM board go bad, and the tv will simply sit flashing the green timer led and do nothing. This is known as the "flashing green light of death" -- The red indicator with a good lamp is an indication that yours may be on its way as well.

You may want to google "mitsubishi dlp lawsuit" I have heard of several class-action suits against mitsu for these sets.

Mitsubishi is supposedly offering a refurbishment service on these chassis' and I have heard several different prices - from $250 to $850... you may want to give mitsubishi a call and see what they say, but honestly for that kind of money, I would recommend investing it in a new set..

I have worked on several of these sets, and i now wont touch them due to the fact that they are so problem riddled--between the bad capacitors in the chassis, the light engine problems and the bad thermistors in the set, (not to mention how long the DLP lamps last) ....when you DO repair one, and something ELSE fails 2 months later, it makes it look like it "wasnt fixed right the first time" It's a complete customer relations nightmare!

The other possibility "could" be the light engine, but this problem sounds more like the capacitors in the chassis are finally giving out.

Let me know, if need further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Trying to replace lamp in HDTV and having trouble. Does not function correctly after putting in new bulb. Boots up and then visuals go black and the green power light keeps flashing. Help?

Panasonic DLP TV Bulbs

Make sure its an original Osram or Philips bulb inside the housing. If its a cheap lamp it will act this way. If it is an original lamp, then you may have a power supply issue. It shouldn't affect your TV but you may want to try resetting the lamp timer by following the instructions that came with the lamp.

TY-LA1001 Timer reset

While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the number 0 button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.

Sounds like the bulbs shorted out the smart board, this happens sometimes when folks change the bulbs without up-plugging the oven.

Sounds like you lamp ballast has gone bad. I good way to verify this is, when you press power on the projector look inside the lens. If you see a small amount of light, then the ballast is good, and the lamp is bad. If there is no light then chances are the ballast is bad.

The red light is a status indicator that means your tv needs to be serviced. Most likely your bulb burned out or failed. You can purchase a replacement bulb online. I have solved a few questions on how to replace a bulb on this site. Check my profile for those posts if you need help with that.

Replaced bulb in Mitsubishi WD-52525 and it still does not work

Press the input/device button and the menu button at the same time. Green LED will blink a two digit code blink 1st digit short pause blink 2nd digit longer pause and repeat. Any number of problems can cause this same symptom.

If the red LED your refering to is the Status LED and not the Lamp LED then you have big problems. A red Status LED indicates no communication from the Format board to the DMD board (light engine). 1/2 the time caps on the format board itself the other 1/2 must send entire electronics package to Mitsubishi.
