Question about Pride Celebrity X 4-Wheel Electric Scooter

4 Answers

THE SCOOTER WILL NOT MOVE, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS CHARGED FOR 30 SOLID HOURS! THE BATTERIES SEEM TO BE FINE. ALSO, THE INDICATOR ONLY SHOWS A CHARGE OF ABOUT ONE-THIRD INTO THE GREEN ZONE. WHEN IT WAS RUNNING FOR THE PAST TWO OR THREE MONTHS, IT WOULD MOVE ALONG AT MAXIMUM SPEED [ABOUT 8 MPH] WITH NO MANUAL CONTROL---JUST BY ITSELF ["LOOK MA! NO HANDS!". FINALLY, IT GOT TO THE POINT WHERE IT WOULD ONLY STOP BY MOVING THE THROTTLE IN REVERSE, BUT WOULD NOT BACK UP.

If the batteries were bad, then how could the scooter move along at 8 mph, with no manual control? That does not seem to make sense! There must be some problem with a short to the electric line; or, something of that nature. Why would the scooter only stop by putting the gears in reverse? And, why won't the indicator lights function? And, why won't it back up?

Scooter will not move; however, when it was in operation, it occasionally would stop only by moving the throttle in reverse. Then, it got to the point where it would no longer back up. It moved along at maximum speed, without any manual controls ["Look! Ma! No hands!"] for about three months, until it died.

Greetings Montel56:
Your scooter has a manual that that came with it that warns you that your scooter can be affected by radio waves. I researched this and believe this is your scooter's problem.

Shoprider® scooters may be susceptible to electromagnetic interference (EMI), which is a kind
of interfering electromagnetic energy (EM) emitted from sources such as radio stations, TV
stations, amateur radio (HAM) transmitters, two-way radio, and cellular phones. The
interference (from radio wave sources) can cause the scooter to release its brakes, move by itself,
or move in unintended directions. It can also permanently damage the scooter’s control system.
I am hoping this helps you and sorry you are having this problem. If you are in an area such as a city or you have a lot of interference in your home you may have to make some changes. Good Luck

Ours did the same thing and we took it to a repair shop. Once simple sauder of a loose electrical wire that was attached to the battery and motor fixed the problem. It cost $120.00 for the repairs but we complained and they did it for free. It was practically brand new and had the same symptoms of what you implied. Call the manufacturer and get a certified repair center to check it out. Then work on getting that price to $00.00!

The unit moving without doing anything and stops at supposedly reverse is caused by the idle not set properly. This is a knob or a screw on the unit that will tell the unit to stay still if not triggered by the controls. either twist this clockwise or counter clockwise unti the unit stops moving.

now the case of it not moving anymore may be a case of a blown fuse since the the motor is running continuesly on a supposedly idle spot. have the scooter checked by a professional as it has more than 4 fuses. else the motor burned out for non-stop runs.

hope this helps, regards

Have the batteries tested that is the most common cause of this problem, it makes no diff it they where charged 30 hours!!!,,if the battery pack is defective you can charge from now until dooms day and it will not charge the batteries, have the batteries tested.

My Zip'r 4 is flashing the green light 7 times which means, "A throttle fault has occurred." The Throttle seems to be working fine, How do i fix this issue?

One of the cells of the battery seems to be bad. Though you charge it, and it shows full charge, but at the time of using the throttle the kinetic power is not there. I recommend that you take the battery to battery ware house so they can confirm the problem. If the problem is not with the battery then the issue is with the circuitry, but most likely it is the cranking power of the battery, though it is fully charged, but it get exhausted right away..

The scooter charges and shows full charge when started. Scooter will not drive uphill - certainly seems to lack torque - when driving up hill battery indicator drops to red

Either the hill is too steep of a grade/incline, the weight of the rider is more than the scooter is designed to carry, or the battery does not have enough power. If the batteries are old or have not been maintained properly, they may not be getting a deep solid charge that is needed to operate on hilly terrain. This is indicated when the batteries show a full charge, and then drop off quickly after a short period of use. Make sure that you are not exceeding the recommended weight limit for the scooter and that your batteries are less than 2 years old. Inclines of more than 5-6 degrees are typically not recommended for safe operation.
I hope this information is helpful to you, good luck!

Try to use scooter, clicking sound, then moves bout 4 inches. charged batteeries all night.

How old are the batteries? When you connect the charger, if the charger indicates the batteries are charged within a few minutes and the battery power does not last more than 1-2 hours or less, it may indicate that that the batteries will not take a charge anymore and need to be replaced.
If the battery indicator on the scooter says the batteries are charged but the scooter still will not move, make sure the freewheel lever is in the drive position.
If you continue to have issues, contact your sales person or the manufacturer to schedule a service call.
Good luck!

The battery takes a charge, but will not power scooter

This scooter require two batteries, not one. It is usually a good idea to replace both batteries at the same time, even though one is obviously bad, and the other "seems" okay. These 12 volt DC batteries (VDC) work in tandem to produce the 24 volts that the scooter operates on. In a perfect world, they would both live a long and happy life, but reality is that some die young, others old. Since they are joined together, the one that's going out saps the life out of the other one, so take a bullet and replace both batteries. Make sure you completely charge the scooter when you get the new ones in. Verify that your charger is working properly. To properly charge the 24 VDC system, the chargers have to have an output of about 26-28VDC. The output must be higher than the rated voltage of the two batteries put together to charge. While you have the shell off the scooter, you can see if the charger is working by measuring across the terminal on each battery with the charger off. Note the meter reading. It should be 12-13 VDC. Put it on the charger and retake the reading, and each battery should show an increase in the voltage due to the boost from the charger. After three hours, each battery should show about a 13.5 VDC reading which should hold above 12 for a good 8-10 miles. Always charge your batteries overnight, and if not in use, disconnect them completely with a full charge on the batteries.

On an E 100 Razor scooter, the battery charger shows charged

We had the same problem that I found to have a very simple fix. It seems all that needed to be done was hold in the reset button a few seconds while the battery charger was plugged in and the light on the charger turned to red and the battery charged again. Seems like too easy of a fix but it worked for my kids scooter.
