This camera is bad for red eye. It's just a problem that happens when the flash is so close to the lens. Red eye occurs when the flash illuminates the subject's retina.

The only solution, really, is to add an external flash that's farther away from the camera lens, which is not an option with this camera. The other, is to get better at taking photos without flash. Higher end cameras have better ways to deal with the red-eye, but these usually involve preflashes that close the subjects pupils (by blinding them with a preflash) before the actual exposure is taken. The Sony DSC-U30 has it as a feature, but it doesn't work very well, I've found. When it does work, it's a nice compromise as it gets rid of the red eye, but it also introduces a delay between pressing the exposure button and the actual taking of the photo.

Unless the light is very dim, I don't use flash with this camera.

After you've taken the photo and have downloaded it, there are ways to edit the red eye out that can be pretty effective.

I need help with prevention of red eyes when taking photos at night.

1. Press the button with the lightning bolt icon and watch the screen. Stop when you see a lightning bolt and an eye. That's the "red-eye setting". 2. Turn up the room lights.

Hi I have a ml200rt it did not come with a manual there are 3 attachment points a b c which do I attach the wires to?

Wires are attached to terminals A and B.
Terminal C is only used when you use photo eye.

With photo eye, wires attach to terminals B and C instead of A and B. Then photo eye black wire connects to A, photo eye red wire to terminal C, and photo eye middle wire to terminal B.

Black dots mainly around eye area

The problem is caused by the down loading software. Both Photoshop elements and Canon package software have a red-eye fixing tool option, i can't remember which one is most problematic, but the simple solution is to untick the automatic red-eye fix on this software. Then assuming you have not formated the card, re-download the photos (you'll have to delete the ones you have previously downloaded with the black eyes- or give the new download a different file name) This should stop this happening.

Red eye problem

Try being closer to the subject when you shoot, as this helps a bit. There are heaps of software on the computer that will get rid of red eye. Though this can be tedious it is probably the best solution.
programs like Photoshop and Paintshop Pro do a good job

Red eye reduction

while in record mode, press the flash/up button repeatedly until you are in red-eye reduction mode. red-eye reduction mode should greatly reduce the problem when enabled. If this does not work, the software that came with your camera (and most photo editing applications) include a red eye reduction/removal filter.

hope this helps,
