Hard drives are not meant to be serviced by end users. Either trash it or pay a company to recover data from it. (http://www.ontrackdatarecovery.com/)

However, if the board is the only problem, if you can get an identical board from the same model drive with the same firmware and if you are really skilled in working on hard drives you might be able to fix it. I don't recommend this approach.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

    In response to your comments:

I will reiterate, repairing the drive is a gamble even with identical parts. The burn mark on the board may only be one of the problems with the drive. The platters are in a sealed vacuum which is really a bad idea to open. If you absolutely need the data send it to a professional before you try anything yourself.

You need an external hard disk enclosure.

You need to know 2 things to pick one.

Your drive interface which will be the older PATA (IDE) or the newer SATA .

The size of your drive which will typically be 3.5" for desktops and workstations or 2.5" which is used in notebooks.

Now go to www.newegg.com and search for "external enclosure". Match the interface and size then check out the ratings and reviews to avoid "lemons".

    Good luck!

Nope, even on swapping hard drive board with same spec(size, board version) doesn't guarantee success.

Consider how the hard drive is construct on different brand. Initialization, disc number and many things.

It maybe, if it is same spec like size, brand, board version and model batch.

No, you can't just use any PCB, it needs to match exactly down to the same revision. The information you need is printed on the label of your hdd. Usually, it's cheaper to buy a matching hdd and swap the cards, than to buy the pcb by itself. If your drive overheated and that caused the circuit board to burn then there's the possibility that the discs and heads were damaged first so this is a fingers crossed fix because you won't know the outcome until you've swapped out the pcb's. "Trial and Error" at best!

You can try with the same type of working board, I have repaired several boards, would like to see the image of burnt board, if any IC has been burnt then its difficult, but for other components its manageable.

Hello,
If you have flashing RED and GREEN LEDs on your Dell 1110 your printer will need servicing by the Dell service department. It is hard to say what is wrong without looking at the printer in person but those two lights together spell trouble not easily fixed. It could be a damaged circuit board or component. This typically has nothing to do with ink, paper jams, etc.

THe most likely cause for this problem is bad connection of the cable connecting the main TV board with the LCD controller. It's called LVDS cable and is hard to miss, usually fat round and black, connecting a board from the chasis with a little board in the top center of the LCD assembly.

I'd open the TV and gently try and reattach the cable to see if that yields any results. You can try it a few times, in fact I'd do it while the TV is open and working so I can better see if adjusting it makes a difference.

There's also a chance that the LCD logic itself got burned and misses on one of the colors. But I don't remember ever seeing that.

Bright Green spot

This could either be an issue with your DMD board or your Video board. While the TV is on, go the menu, if that green spot shows on the menu, the issue will be with the DMD board, but if it doesn't the issuw will be withe the Video board

LED light has gone out

Lights up blue when the Drive is powered on. Flashes red when reading or writing data. It was just stuck between color as it does not flash green,red-blue make green. Contact the company and see if it is under warranty, if not see if they will send you a new light, because
if it is not under warranty,it does not matter if you open it.

All that is inside is a hard drive, chip board. The light plugs onto the chip board same as a fan plugs onto a motherboard. I hope this helps you and it is under warranty,or at least they send you a new light if not.

Unplug it from power.Pull the side cover to check for burnt smell or burnt spots on your board modem or power supply. Unplug the power suppy from the board, unplug the hard drive . Then plug it all up again , put the cover back on it .Plug power cords back up and try it again. If you get no where after this the surge knocked out your power supply or hard drive or board. Always use a good surge protector on all computers and printer and copiers.

Hard drive won't turn on

You could remove the drive if you can get the enclosure open and either install it in a new enclosure or as an additional HD inside your Pc. Good Luck.

Green ctr

Locate the screen drive controls, usually under the back panel above the main board, attached to the frame. There should be an adjustment for each color. Note the position of the green screen drive. Turn up the drive and see what happens. If you now have green your drive just needed adjusted. If nothing changes then you should remove the green crt board from the crt and replace it with either the blue or red crt board. If the crt displays an image the problem is in the green drive circuitry. If there is no picture you probably have a defective green crt. Usually it is not worth replacing the crt due to cost, etc. If you have the skills to perform these diagnostics good luck and remember safety. If not you will need to find a tech or shop to do it.
