Question about Motorola Mobility V750 Cellular Phone

Glass window on the front of my v750 shattered while in my pocket

I doubt I can replace the window only. I leaned against a table while the phone was in my jacket pocket and when I pulled the phone out of my jacket, I realized it was shattered. I was a bit surprised as the main reason I chose this phone was its reputation for durability. I keep a hard case/cover on my phone at all times. Apparently the glass window is not a durable feature of this phone. I had only had the phone for about a week when this happened.

I guess you're talking about the motorola v750 clamshell device.
This device hasn't passed any toughness certifications. So, a hard punch could damage the window. In this case, if the display is working and not damaged, you can either replace the full housing or may be you could find the window only(Window only option is a bit hard to find than finding a full housing)

If by any chance you are referring to a touch based smartphone, there are ways to replace the glass only if your LCD isn't damaged at all. You'll need special tools and skills

Replacing parts on a cell phone is a very delicate process. I would check on-line and find a local shop that can fix it for you. I live in ATL and there are several places here that offer the service for around $20

SOURCE: How to replace Glass on front of cell, Moto

Hello,

To replace the glass in the front of your phone, the steps to take are listed as follows;

  1. After removing your back cover and battery, remove the screws you see.
  2. With the four screws removed you can now remove the battery compartment,
  3. With the battery slot removed you have access to one of the ribbons which connects the screen to the main body of the phone. Unclip this (it fits like a plug and socket).
  4. You'll now have the phone in two parts,
  5. Now remove the two screws at the bottom of the main display. You can then remove the display part which covers the LCD. This is held on by clips. You need to run your fingernail along the edge of the housing to release these. This will release the display up to the point where you see two metal parts (left and right of the Motorola text). The top part of the display is held on with double sided tape. To remove the display requires some force to unstick the tape but be careful not to bend this part back and snap it. Just try to ease it open and it will eventually unstic,
  6. then you can replace the glass,
  7. Reverse the process for reassembly.
Take care

Armoured glass is used for table tops, oven tops etc. To get the glass to break/shatter, it requires temperatures exceeding 200 degrees Centigrade and then cooled quickly in one spot or something has been dropped on it.

Glass Window Shattered During Wash

Maybe the internal drum was rocking due to an unbalance with the weight of the towels that it has knocked onto the door causing the glass to break. only thing i can think of , glass shouldn't break unless its hit or there is a large amount of temperature change, adding cold water to a hot glass for instance.

I dropped my pantech ease and the screen shattered but the phone still works. Is there anyway to replace the glass?

Hi kellyward309,

You can buy a replacement front housing (including the glass) on eBay.

Type in "pantech ease housing" in eBay, currently there is a USA seller with Pantech Ease front cover for about USD$20.00.

October 21, 2009 Same problem. No physical violence whatsoever. Never been dropped. One month old phone. Screen cracked.

warranty voided, had the same thing with my at&t samsung rugby, is supposed to be tough and able to withstand water temp and some shock. I guess it doesnt take much to crack these lcd screens. I've been trying to rationalize how mine cracked, maybe i had it in my pocket and leaned against a sharp counter or table top - I just dont know?

TOUCH SCREEN SHATTERED

So, you brushed up against your desk, and shattered your phone's touch screen? I have the same phone, and I have dropped it several times, including on concrete and pavement, and the screens have not even been scratched. I am not saying I have not been lucky, or that you might not have a dud phone, but I think you are understating the truth a bit. Also, you are asking people to solve a problem that has only a couple (very obvious) solutions: Check if the the phone can be repaired by a professional, or, most likely, get a new phone. Sucks, but that's how it goes ;)

Glass is shattered to to replace

To replace the door glass do the following:

1 remove the oven door by pulling it up and removing from the the hinges. If glass is broken , then secure glass with tape. Have a table with a cloth on top ready to lay the door.
2 Remove the outer screws , starting from lower side of the panel.
3Remove the inner screws. Keep all set of screws ordered, and take noteof the order you remove them. You will follow reverse order inreassembly.
4 the frame will be free now,
5 Remove the external glass panel and leave it in a safe place.
6 Replace the inner glass.
7 Clean outer glass and metal door, re-assemble it and mount it back

LCD Sanyo screen looks shattered

The inner glass plate inside the screen is broken. The glass inside of these is very thin. I think it is only a few millimeters thick at the most.

The complete screen must be replaced to fix the fault. It will probably be cheaper for you to buy a new monitor rather than replace the screen!
